I'm having to look at the possibility of changing my saddle, current saddle is being adjusted and I've been left a barnsby GP to try in the time being, I will ride in it this week then get mine back and see what happens then.
Does anyone here use a barnsby how do you get on with it just after some experiences advice
Thank you in advance

I absolutely love them! Unfortunately my girl only suits native pony saddles or I would have one for her. The seats and positioning of stirrup bars etc suit me down to the ground!

They are not the comfiest on your bum. I find mine quite hard and unforgiving. Really wish one of my old saddles fitted current horse as they are better to sit on but the Barnsby is the best fit. No complaints otherwise

This! Before I bought my current one for Bentley, I was borrowing his old one from his previous owner and found it most uncomfortable to sit on for a long time!

Barnsby are a very old established company. Many years ago I had a fantastic old Barnsby saddle that I guess in comparison to the ones today would be considered hard. Have also had some of the newer ones and not had any problems with them being hard on my behind, that said my backside is well covered!

They do a good range to suit all types and I am definitely a fan.

I had mine made to fit last October I found the whole service great and the finished product fits my horse and me to a tea. I love it looks great and is so comfortable. It was expensive but the quality is second to none and I think really worth it. I can really recommend them.

In fairness, the saddle which I borrowed was a Barnsby Whittaker jumping saddle, don't know if that makes a difference? I also thought it was a horrible colour, orangey-tan - I prefer dark havana or black, but of course that's down to personal preference.

Doesn't the queen use barnsby saddles or am I getting confused?

I have a Barnsby Majestic dressage saddle, recently purchased ,softest seat I have ever sat on,and comfortable.Usually have Albion s, but they do so many different tree shapes to suit the horse at Barnsby, and that's why I now prefer them.

I have the Barnsby Aurora close contact saddle and it has a lovely SOFT seat. Slightly too wide for my horse but I ride two TBs in it so have to fit the larger of the two and just use a Lemieux half riser pad with it. I'm tall and the flap length fits me leg perfectly. I was lucky that I got mine for a CHEAP price as it was the prototype as I could never afford it otherwise. Love Barnsby saddles and tack.

Haven't sat in a Barnsby that I haven't liked, GP (I am not a fan of GP saddles, but really like the Barnsby), dressage and the jump and mono flap versions of the Xtreem, they fit our horses well and all family members from Mini aged 9, two daughters, me and my partner who is a six foot strapping bloke, gets on with them really well.

I have a Barnsby VSD it was thge only one that fitted my mare, love it and still fitting like a glove (with regular checks and 1x minor reflocking), 10yrs on.:)

I have had two jump saddles and a dressage saddle and love them all.

I guess the jump saddle could be a bit hard for long hacks but then again they are not designed for that!

I had one made with custom bits. I found the customer service good. The fitter was a one off payment £60 and would come as often as needed to ensure the saddle was a perfect fit and I was happy with it. I had extra memory foam in the seat and knee rolls among other things.

To be honest I am not sure if I like it or not. I am having a lot of lessons to improve my position and its a bit ouchie in an unmentionable place at times. I am not sure if that's the saddle or if its because I am trying to change a few things about my position.

I went for a Barnsby as I had a fab one as a kid, I can't say this one makes me feel like that one did.

Between my two mares, I have 3 barnsbys. My cob has a specially made barnsby event saddle, which suits her down to the ground, however I don't find it as comfy as my omega GP, which I have for my other mare, which is super comfy and I could ride all day in it. I also have a kanter dressage with Ngage blocks which again, is super comfy and I honestly wouldn't have anything else for my ladies these days. Brilliant saddles. :D

Thank you all for the replies a lot of positives to take in, I have my saddle back today re flocked and gullet changed as saddler has said it might it might not work, I still have the barnsby and when it decides to stop raining !!!!! I will try them both I have to say I love the look of the barnsby and impressed by the positive responses here it's not an expensive saddle so doable without selling other one first if that is what needs to happen otherwise saddler will come out again with a selection I just want the most comfy saddle for my boy and for me he comes first though.
The barnsby looks like it will give me a good position and where my side is weak still from surgery this is q major consideration.
So once again I would like to say thank you for all your replies and im sure I'll be posting again re what's happening
