Tell me about GFS saddles

Smokes has one, it's a GFS pro-performance I think or similar. It's a really nice, comfortable saddle which would be perfect for doing a bit of everything in. Have PM'd you!
 
I had/have the equi suede GFS genesis for my youngster, it wuld still be on him if he hadn't changed shape! It has saved me a fortunate as it's adjustable - otherwise I would have gone through around 10 saddles in the last 3 years! Super saddles and I think they are very comfy too :)
 
The fit of the cheaper adjustable models is very different from the Pro series, which is also different from the standard leather models. You therefore need to know which shape and design will fit.

I've just bought a Pro Event for my youngster because of the design: wide head and gullet and flat tree and panels.

They're not the highest quality leather but do the job and sit well on many horses.
 
I bought a GFS VSD almost 12 years ago now and it is still in brilliant condition and seems to fit anything! Very comfy to ride in, polishes up well and the VSD suits big shouldered cobs which are the type I seem to go for. I have no complaints at all and saddler reckons it's still worth about 2/3 what I paid for it - not bad after so long!
 
I have a 7 year old gp type one and it is so comfortable. Been checked 3 times and not needed anything done yet. Not a mark on it bar a bit of wear on the flaps. I'd have another.
 
I had one for my husband's hunter. A leather GP type, about two years old. It was a really good middle of the road saddle. I only swapped it because the saddler had a Jeffries one like my mare's for sale, and I find them really comfy.
 
Hee hee I'm going to be the only dissenter I think, I bought a new leather VSD GFS saddle and didn't like it! Fit was ok but the leather was really stiff and cheap looking and feeling and it never really got any better with conditioning and use. Sold it eventually and stuck with big chaps ancient but lovely Walsall made Towe spring tree Hunting saddle, lovely thing and like a sofa, shines like a conker when cleaned. It will see him out.
 
Had my GFS for around 7 year too, made to measure to my old TB mare. Fantastic saddle, so comfortable. I'd go as far as to say i prefer riding in that to my Albion K2. Sadly no longer fits my current girl so also for sale if you're looking. Pm me for details :) x
