Hello,
Ok. My barefoot pony appears to be an utter wuss on any form of hard/gravel surface even apparently smooth tarmac. He spends 99% of his time in the field or hacking round fields and doesn't seem bothered by hard rutted ground where he is 100% sound but take him on tarmac and he practically face plants every 15-20 strides. I don't want to put shoes on as he really doesn't need them but I would like to get him some hoof boots for those times we are on tarmac as we may be doing more. Does anyone recommend or advise against any makes and how have people managed rubbing etc ? Thank you

My horse has the odd sore day so we use front boots as and when required. I've not known them rub yet but we do use neoprene gaiters so this probably helps. He wears cavallo simple boots but I do think they're a little clumpy, once these are worn down a bit we will go for modified renegades or easyboot glove wide as none of the other brands will fit his feet.

Have you measured your horse up yet? Different brands fit different shaped feet

Not measured yet - do the websites for the different types advice on shapes ? He has typical round pony front feet !

When I got a front pair a year or two ago I only had the choice of old macs (as my pony's feet are round). Which have been good but I also have neoprene gaiters. Some companies let you hire a pair. I would do this if I were you. I have heard that easy boot gloves are good aswell
The websites should show you how to measure their feet. Then you get the measurements then you can look for the boot in the size charts.
Hope you find suitable boots.
