This is my beautiful boy Shy. He's five years old, I started him, and he really is bombproof in all traffic, with tractors, lorries, trailers, dogs. He thinks he is a dog, as he likes to carry sticks around. This pic is of my hubs having a ten minute ride - and loving it ;) I adore this pony - half dales and one in a million.

But we need to work on our jumping (blush)

Highland Pony Fric Colin von Shoenburg will out face a combine Harvester.

Shadrack now 33 years old, Ride and Drive, his film career included A Dance to the Music of Time, Channel Four; Disney Four Musketeers; and a week spend filming in Edinburgh with Julia Roberts for Mary Reilly.

Beamish Rosemary, pure bred CB mare who 'does' low flying helicopters, please see my post on Hunting forum about NEW FOREST Hunt.

O'Bajan, Shagya Arab mare also bought for ride and drive from Hungarian National stud, where she was used for Carriage Driving displays at their annual show. She does not DO cows, we have had to slowly introduce her to this terrifying spectacle but HGV's are OK!

Yes I have a bombproof one. He has has taken me round cross country (I'm v nervous jumper) clear rounds and my happy hacker whose had limited flatwork schooling, managed 55% in his first ever dressage test! I was nervous on the ground when I got him, he has completely restored that too. All from an 7 year old Irish draught cross!!!! Absolutely worth his weight in gold! Have done some things this year that I never ever thought were possible!!

I'm another one with a bombproof non-hairy! Mine is a Polish sporthorse.

The dealer's yard were running a show the day I went to try him so he was shown to us in the warm-up area. He was four, been backed for 2 weeks and was surrounded by strange horses cantering around and didnt bat an eyelid!

I totally agree with the comments that attitude is the most important thing

I've had my boy for just over four years now and he is an absolute star in all ways. He is without doubt my horse of a lifetime. He is a total dope to hack and will quite happily plod on the buckle but is also sparky enough to XC or show jump and does a nice dressage test too. He has recently been teaching my friend's BF and daughter to ride and has found his calling in life! I think he'd much rather be a riding school horse than a competition horse - all he has to do is trot down one side of the school and someone pats him and tells him how clever he is!!

And a gratuitous picture of said beastie:

Wow, some really amazing horses there, thank you:)

I don't want another arab, partly due to my weight/nerves, partly due to how much it would remind me of my old mare. Who sadly would happily dump her rider in a desert if she felt like it:( Very sharp mare. And thoroughbreds again there is the weight issue. Really not keen on wrecking an animal's back. Although I knew a lovely one years ago that I will always think of very fondly.

Am a teensy bit in love with those hairy cobs...

What happened to Hippo? Is that what she was called? Haven't been on here much for a while...

I had to sell her :( Health issues on my part led to my having to give up work and I also gained a lot of weight. Plus she was very sharp and I wasn't able for her at all any more. I couldn't ride her or afford to pay for any treatment on her melanoma if it were needed (excluded from insurance too). So I figured she would be better off with someone else. Her new owner is very happy with her though.

I have a welsh cob who although not much good for the show ring is the most amazing bomb proof hack!! Still has a welsh sense of humour and will grow at the sight of a bouncy lamb or a daffodil but will take no notice of any machinary, large lorries, etc. Feel totally safe on him!

I also have a trotter cross who is not a weight carrier but is turning into a lovely, sensible hack!

In my situation, breed is nothing to do with it! I have a welsh cob who is a nightmare out at the minute, but the tb we ride out with is the best horse I have ever known and I don't know what we'd do without him!!

This is my wonderful 5 year old cob x tb. She had been briefly sat on last spring. I bought her October last year and she has prooven to be 100% bombproof. We have even had jets fly past very low and she continues on her merry way without a blink of an eye.

I have a lovely 13 year old connie x iberian who is a superstar. Got on him yesterday after a week mostly stuck in his stable due to weather, rode on our own down to the beach past main road, building site, cafes, surfers and walkers, had a good gallop and back home without so much as a spook! He's 15.1 and can carry a fairly heavy person (carries my husband no probs). He's fairly chilled but can turn on the pace when he's
He was a stresshead when I got him and we took a good year to not be terrified of each other! But after nearly 5 years together his bull-fighting instincts are honed and he is pretty fearless on his own - though he can take the P in company if another horse is spooking. I can't complain though, he's ace. Sadly I may have to sell him as I am pregnant again but I will do my damnedest to hang on to him!!!!

i wish my horse was bombproof but then hes green but willing and does spook but Im going to do more with him next year. Ive never ridden horses that dont spook and would rather have that than a bucker/rearer.

Scewal - your horse is gorgeous.

Pedantic, this thread needs a pic of your boy doing what he does best. The hacks you guys do are enough to frighten your average bombproof happy hacker!

I wouldnt ever want a bucker/rearer, my young and green horses are now totally bomb proof after time and calm riding, I have even taken on a rescue job and turned him into a 'dream' bombproof happy hacker :) so bombproof that i can get a bit lazy riding him at times :)

My little cob is the ultimate bombproof happy hacker, perfectly suited for the most novice or nervous rider. I however am neither and feel a bit underhorsed, esp as he never quite make it to the 15hh I was hoping for. Nothing spooks him, totally traffic proof and he.never get excited or fizzy, even out hunting.

We hunt and come back looking like this

And then he comes home and is kind, quiet and gentle enough to also do this
