A second dog is still a long way off for us - we're trying to move to a more suitable house this summer and I've apparently been banned from having one until I've graduated summer 2012, when we'll have more time and money to devote to another (and I can ask for a pup as a graduation present
).
...but anyway, today the MIL put a spanner in the works by saying that she wouldn't dog-sit for us if we got a GSD. She was bitten by a family GSD as a small child (it was later put down for biting the postman) and is apparently terrified of them.
She looks after Dax about one night a month for us and if any emergencies come up where she'd otherwise have to be left all day, so it's not inconsequential really and it would cost us a fortune to pay someone to do the same so, annoying as it is, her choices have to be taken into account.
OH has just walked in and declared he wants a shiba inu instead. I have no idea where this idea has come from, and my initial reading is leading me to believe we might as well have another bloody sibe as they're just as bad off the lead, but I'm willing to humour him for a bit - tell me what they're like to live with! I have at least 12 months to plan this next dog so I want to get it right, lots of options to think about, including whether to just go ahead and have another sibe from SHWA...
