I pay £15 per week per stable for a yard on a dairy farm with access to up to 9 stables & 6 acres but with no other liveries apart from my horses. I get big bale haylage for £25 per bale & big bale straw for £15. I have no school and I have to do most of the repairs/field maintenance myself. It is very basic but I'm left to do my own thing & best of all, there is absolutely no b1tching!

£15 pw for a 15 x 15 box.
DIY
Another box to keep all my hay/straw in
Flat field for schooling weather permitting
No facilities
5 mins away from a school I can hire
Only 4 people and 6 horses on the yard, and, we all like each other!
No bitching
I am the electric fence master!
All permanent fencing repairs done by the farmer but we are pretty proactive and pull our own ragwort, clean troughs etc.

We are pretty much left to our own devices, YO is great, very knowledgeable regarding land management. We have no real rules, but we keep the yard tidy, throw up muck heap etc. I have to admit I do a lot of the sorting out on a daily basis, but I do get thanks from the YO and he is really pleased that we are taking a pride in our little yard!

We are on an ex dairy farm. Farmer is ace - just leaves us to it, we look after ourselves, but he looks after fencing, sprays fields, sorts muck heap etc.

We pay...an extortionate amount of...£8.50 per week!!!

This includes a 15 x 15 stable & unlimited good grazing.

We have all the storage we could ask for, can park trailers there. He grows hay but doesn't mind if we use it or not as he has a few 'pet' cows left which go through it easily.

Have access to 70 acres to play in, can build our own sc fences & have a good gallop.
No school but lady who keeps her horses there has one in her garden which is fab.

How much do you pay a week for your livery yard?
I pay £18 per week per horse, but I then pay extra on top for the services I need that week. More often than not it is bring in 5 days a week (mon-fri) at £1.00 per horse per day, change the rugs 5 days a week (mon-fri, winter only) at £1.00 per horse per day, putting in an 8pm feed for my big boy at 30p a day. Works out at about £60 a week for 2 horses, including all those services. Not bad I think.

What type of livery are you on?
DIY but she offers extra services at a small charge.

What Fasilities do they have?
The facilities are fantastic to me. We have direct off-road hacking, as well as being very close to hacking on exmoor. Very knowledgeable YO who is a BHSAI and only charges £10ph to people on the yard. Small indoor and good outdoor school, as well as a grass school which is a jumps paddock most of the year, spearate fields for geldings and mares (small herds as only 15 on the yard) with the fields rotated season to season (unrestricted t/o). Strict worming programme - everyone does the same worming at the same time. Very secure tackroom and excellent storage for food and bits. A kitchen with sofas in.

What do you look for in choosing a livery yard?
Good hacking, unrestricted YR t/o, knowledgeable YO

£345 a month for 7 day part livery. Includes everything bar riding - TO and BI, mucking out, haylage, feeding, quick groom every day, feet pick out when brought in I think, rug changes both ends of day, horse walker 5 days a week if I want it (includes putting on and taking off walker). Also includes all of my feed, all haylage, whatever shavings YO uses for him, holding for vet, farrier, etc, and no charge for extra BI or TO (as in TO first thing, BI later for vet, TO back out, BI last thing).

Stable is 12x12 I think, TO is on big fields in pairs or groups which I like. It's very wet here on clay soil so the fields are boggy, which means they usually only go out for a few hours each day - usually 8am to 2pm ATM although sometimes longer. No TO when it's icy as paths to fields are tarmac, and no TO when snowing but the horses don't care anyway as long as they have haylage! We've got an Olympic size sand and rubber arena with a full set of new SJs. Also have a set aside field for fast work, couldn't tell you how big but massive.

I look for: a YO who knows their stuff and I feel I can trust, good facilities (inc arena), must have toilet (sounds silly but having been on yard without, it's rubbish not having one!), decent TO and be able to put my boy out in company. I hate having him on his own and he goes loopy if he's out alone, even if there are others next to him. Also need somewhere to park my trailer

How much do you pay a week for your livery yard?
£110 pcm

What type of livery are you on?
DIY

What Fasilities do they have?
Indoor and Outdoor schools, stable, indivadual turnout, water, electric, Proposed Lunging pen and XC course.

What do you look for in choosing a livery yard?
things that are going to benifit my horses. friendly yard.

I pay £60 per week for assisted livery. This includes haylage ad lib and 3 bales of shavings per week. My 16.2 horse has a 14 foot stable and unrestricted individual turnout in a 1 acre paddock with mains fencing. There are automatic water troughs in stable and paddock. I have use of a locked storage area for tack and feed. Rugs can be repaired on site and there's an equine laundry and wash box. There are plans for an on site trail and lunging pen.

YO tailors assisted livery to suit client. In my case this involves turn out and/or bring in up to 7 times a week including rug change, doing feet and putting in feed. I muck out every day and poo pick paddock. YO will muck out for £3.50 per time if required. There's an outdoor 30x60m sand/rubber school with jumps available. Hacking out is on very quiet country lanes, small areas of woodland and there's also a beach not too far away. YO is also an instructor with lessons available at reduced rates for liveries.

Was previously on a DIY yard but it didn't fit in with my working hours very well. It took up too much time and I didn't manage to ride as much as I wanted. Bought my horse 3 months ago (had him on loan last winter) so needed a yard that offered assisted. When looking for a new yard I wanted one that was close to home, not too big, friendly and offered assisted with an experienced YO living on site. Quiet and varied hacking was something I also looked out for.

I pay £40 a week.
We have an outdoor sand school, an outdoor long arena,an small lunge arena, and a big indoor arena. We pay extra for the indoor. In the summer we have use of a showjumping field, a XC field and a flatwork/galloping field free of charge.
We do only have 4 day turnout in the winter but we are allowed to turn out into the sand school for a few hours. PLus I have a TB, she likes to be in
grin.gif

In that livery price we also get hay/hayledge.

£32 DIY - includes feeding of prepared meals and watering / rugs on / off at 7am and 4pm.

T/o £1.50 - small field in winter. T/o in pens is free. Summer t/o with OH's 24/7 is included in livery. YO checks on horses 3 times a day. Field sharer's make their own arrangements as regards to poo picking etc.

£8/ day for full livery service - which I use 5 times a week due to work and the fact that I live 20 miles away.

Bedding & hay are to be bought from YO at reasonable prices. Hardfeed you buy youself as required.

they have3 outdoor schools, two small ones (about 15 x 30 I'd say) and one big school (25 x 50m), all are floodlit but there is a meter on the big one ...

Hacking is fantastic - ones you are accross the motorway that is

£22 per week per horse
£4.50 per bale of hayledge (small bales - big bales are £25 but one of mine isn't at home at the mo)

Indoor wash box with hot water
Two outdoor schools with jumps, on a bark surface
Turnout - in at night in winter, but generally unlimited, just really wet/frozen days they aren't out
Storage space for trailer and shavings.

I pay £195 a month, which includes ad lib haylage, 12x12 indoor stable, large outdoor arena (slightly larger than 20x60) with floodlights, roundpen for lunging, large wash bay area outside and indoor wash bay. All round turnout and plenty of hacking. There is a warm heated tackroom with kettle, tv, microwave and small tuck shop.

At an additional cost there is the use of a covered walker of an original design, a solariam and the yard will turnout, bring in, muck out or whatever you want doing to you horse.

Feed can be bought from the yard

In a yard I look for an arena, all year turnout even if it is just for the morning or afternoon, friendly atmosphere

£30 per week
Price includes unlimited hay and/or haylage
Straw @ £2 per bale
Floodlit outdoor school with sand surface, unlimited use
Turnout in groups of three in minimum 8 acre fields
Lovely off road hacking
12 x 12 stable (some on the yard are 20 x 16 - they pay the same)
Free trailer parking

Less livery, more "friend has a few acres and a few stables"! DIY I suppose, but us "liveries" pretty much run the yard for our friend.
[ QUOTE ]
What facilities do they have?

[/ QUOTE ]
Fields (plenty), stables, hard-standing yard, running cold water (auto troughs in fields). We have planning permission for an outdoor 20x40m school (no lights) which should hopefully be built in the first half of next year.

Turnout must be good. My horse is a special case as she's a semi-retired happy hacker so all I need for her is a field. Hard standing is a bonus, as are stables. Good hacking is essential (our hacking is fantastic). For any other horse (ie when I buy another one to dressage on) a school, preferably with lights, is also essential. As are stables (I prefer to have the option of keeping neddy in the night before a show to save my sanity in the morning when cleaning!)

£30 DIY, extra for bringing in, turning out etc.

What do I look for - unlimited turnout. A proper all weather menage that doesn't flood.

Most important for me is a YO who minds their own business and doesn't interfere or offer advice where its not wanted.

£65 pcm diy plus hayledge @£25 big bale and shavings @£6.60 for a med non branded bale
we have all year turnout starvation paddocks if needed, auto drinkers in the fields water and electric to the stables which are about 11x11 i have my own block cos i have 3 horses and the forth stable as a tack room
we have two outdoor arenas both floodlit and an indoor arena

my yard is 37.50 per week, that includes haylage (ad lib) large brick stable, morning feed and net, we turnout for liveries in sand pit play area in winter for an hour and bring in, automatic waterers, in summer, we turnout for liveries in field, holding for vet / farrier, use of outdoor and lights, round pen and lights, reasonable hacking, lorry parking, extra net chucked in if you are going to be late down, the only extras are £1 a go for the hot shower and solarium, and bedding. and we ask our liveries for a hand poo picking, but provide a poo hoover! the trouble is i think we sound expensive but when you add up all the free extras i think we arent too bad.
what do you guys think?

90pcm, 12x12 stable, all year turnout, outdoor sand school.
Own hay and straw barn.
Small quiet d.i.y yard.
What i look for is, good sized stable as well as school, plenty of off road hacking and good all year turnout.

I look for good turnout, decent quality stables and a YO who knows at least the basics about horses

£185 per month for DIY, 12x12 stable with huge automatic water trough.

Unlimited haylage, and straw - which can be of crap quallity! You can purchase shavings in tack shop for around £7.
T/O all year round in dedicated groups and fields, rotated each worming cycle. Not great pasture but can leave out as long as you like, must not leave 1 on its own though.

Locked tack rooms, and feed rooms(not locked), kettle and running water.

Washbay planned.

Parking for trailer but think you are charged.

Turnout etc, full livery etc all avaiable per day at a cost

Feed available to buy on site but they are not very reliable and not the cheapest around, but suits some folk.
Tack shop with small tuckshop. Can buy goods and add to account!!

Limited hacking routes.

Some clinics held onsite but the yard forgets to advertise then moans when we dont support them - huge bug bear of mine the now.

CANNOT use you rown instructor!!!
CANNOT use external person to clip !

but this is 5 mins from my house, and TBH the issues I can work around - although straw quality is an issue for respiritory issues

I need indoor arena, turnout, quality hay/straw.

Hm. Good prices, but I don't know what it would equate to in the UK. I do like the sound of it though

The prices included are what the currency converter told me, but with your economy the way it is (It's all my father ever talks about

) I don't know if that is how it would really equate.

(I like that word, equate, I'm going to use it some more...)
