I'm a native and a cob type of girl, but have been offered a warmblood to ride.

I know next to nothing about the various types and have only ever ridden and handled two.

So tell me about your warmbloods.... :D

I only know one, a lovely girl. Possibly slightly behind when brains were handed out, but the most honest soul to jump ever (v talented too). Forgiving of ridder error, but also liable to get a bit worked up if the rider holds her back. Good to hack too. If she is indicative of the breed then it bodes well!

My boy is lovely, he has a wonderful personality incredibly friendly with EVERYONE :D but slightly dim and does like reasurance from his rider. He is so comfortable to ride and despite being huge is so light on his feet and feels like your just floating along.
He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but because he's so big a little spook on him feels like a giant spook:lol: he's also too nosey for his own good on occasions.
He was incredibly slow to mature both mentally and physically, when we bought him at 5 he was 16.3hh and now at 8 we think he has finally stopped growing and reached 17.1hh

Picture because he's lovely even if he is a twit:D

Smallhunter - your boy is gorgeous :)

My mare is dutchwarmblood x and she is very gentle and loving but needs confidence from her rider. She is also very spooky and can unseat you as she's so big..but I wouldn't swap her for the world.

I used to have a Dutch warmblood and Id never have one again!
She was lovely to handle and very affectionate, but was SO tempremental when it came to jumping!!

Ive now got a Selle Francai (french warmblood) and she is amazaing, yea she has her typical warmblood dim moments, but she is the the best show jumper I have ever had and ultra reliable.

My warmblood is Dutch - old fashioned type. Big mover.

As mentioned before seeks reassurance from rider, spooky and often behind the leg. He prefers to be there as it makes spinniing easier.

On the positive side he will happily jump anything you point him at, hack calmly down the road being passed by a large group of chopper bikes/arctics etc and total poppet to handle.

Totally agree, my 17'2 is 100% snaffle mouth, traffic etc etc. So so genuine to ride and loving but takes a lot of riding as is quite backwards thinking and naturally behind the leg!
