was due to run at Barbury Castle novice on one of the ponies this weekend..

however someone came to try him last weekend and the girl fell in love with him- they offered full price which we thought was being VERY optimistic... so now have money to buy a serious junior horse...

so I withdrew from Barbury... someone tell me that it was the right thing to do as it is heartbreaking as I had such a fantastic ride there last year...

please reassure me someone?

You'd have been buggered if you'd run him and he'd done a tendon - so yes you have done the right thing.

Of course it was the right thing, why would you want to risk injuring him/her. You could go look at new ponies now.

very appealing that prospect...

its just annoying the fact that i've had my last xc ride on him as he is so straight and gives a really nice feel and sort of wanted a nice end to my time with him

also, horses seem scarier than ponies

I think its better to NOT have that last ride TBH! Whenever I sell one of mine, usually (depending on how soon they pick the horse up, usually with 2/3 days) I dont ride them again once a deal is done!! Mainly because I hate the thought of sitting on them after a nice ride thinking "this is the last time Ive ever going to sit on this horse" - would make me cry too much!

You're definately making the right decision though, you would kick yourself if he injured himself slightly there!

Console yourself with the thought that it will probably cancel anyway! I think I am growing gills!!

Is that the pony you did the PN on at Longleat? I was the big bay who went XC straight before you if so!

It is totally the right thing, you know what these creatures are like - bound to do something to themselves, its a certain law

nope, its another one... Jolly Idea...

and I know, if I rode him xc and knew it was the last time I would be an emotional wreck as i crossed the finish haha!!

oh well... onto finding a horse- a lot to live up to though for the horse

I would be livid if I was the buyer and found that the horse I had bought but not yet collected was still being competed.

Dont risk it, you need to wrap the horse in cotton wool until it is collected and the money in the bank
