Tell me/Show me..Welsh X Arabs!

Louie is a BRP which is basically a welsh x arab (well his lines are anyway) he looks like an overgrown slightly skinny section A. Has nice paces, very clever, VERY athletic. Such good fun, he has a bit or attitude and a bit of a quirk but it's just fun and inviting. It is like sitting on a knife though and I have it on good authority he was the most difficult horse my boss had to break in and thats over a mare she bought off the whitakers for being too difficult to back! :p

He's working at Elem and do the odd medium movements with success. He's got a brilliant jump and as we're having a break from dressage for a couple of months we're going to see how far he can go SJ.

Sorry for overload, I LOVE Louie!

How's yours bred, Kokopelli? Nice 'oss :) Very similar in stamp to our friend's BRP (very talented horse but they reckon he goes around with death metal playing on his iPod....). BRPs have fallen out of fashion a bit in the UK, which is ironic really because most of these continental pony warmbloods you see are so heavily from a BRP base that they are virtually BRPs - they contain an awful lot of welsh blood in particular with a healthy dose of arab. And yet people still turn their noses up at horses if you say they are a part bred arab or a part bred welsh.

His passport name is lyncombe illusion and his sire is Litton Reflection who is by llanarth aristocat. His dam is Litton reflection

He is so much like these little warmbloods, he's probably a bit finer though and less stupid. :) lovely breed though I would happily buy another just the perfect line between talented/ fun and not too naughty that you feel like you're going to die :p

(ArabianGem, I haven't seen your amazing mare's pedigree before. She's actually a bona fide British Riding Pony I think as she is a welsh/arab/TB mix. Can't believe she's 17 now though. Mind you Spud is 16 - scary!)

Yes, Marygold is a BRP as well as the arab/tb/welsh cross. Her sire is a BRP and her pedigree is full of very well known names.

She is fabulous, and I forget she's 17 now!!!

Some really classic old fashioned names in that pedigree, Kokopelli - nice :)

Sad to think he was sold for £200 and went through the sales 4 times. I'm a very lucky girl, he's my mini superstar :)

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!

I think I saw a post about your Louie the other day Koko, love him. I hope mine comes out half as nice as these lot!

Thank you, I do love him :) very excited to see yours will be very interesting :)

Moms old boy was a Welsh (i think D) x Arab. He jumped, xc, hunted, hacked, drsssage, you name it he had a go! Taught me to ride and was with us until he was 32.

Tell me, where are you based? just your yard looks VERY similar to one I used to work on. Stunning girl too :)

Heres my welsh D x arab - I often say she looks mostly welsh on the outside and all the arab is in he brain! She is one of lives great worriers - but it does mean she is a super safe and heart of gold horse!

She is 16 now, and this year she has done her first endurance, first time on the XC course, first time at RC camp, and has now affiliated and got her first BD points!

She is an absolute star!

I will add a photo later, but I own an arab x tbx welsh (arab x welsh stallion & anglo arab mare) and she is phenomenal.

Just a shade under 15hh chestnut mare but not mareish at all. She is 17 now but you wouldnt know it. Tough as old boots. She has:

Done endurance up to FEI level
Will happily pop a 2'6" course either SJ and XC. Has scope to do more but was stopped by my cowardice.
Will put in a reasonable dressage test but its not my thing.
Western trained - a great trail horse!
Done a bit of showing
LOTS of hacking, pub rides, beach rides etc.

Just a fabulous horse who can turn her hoof to anything. She's currently on loan so I can concentrate on my very full time job, part time MA and trying to get my pure bred arab FEI level as well. I don't half miss her.

If you're interested, you can find her on all brreds pedigree: Minnismoor Mistique

I love the arab x native. You generally get a very tough, smart, hardy pony/horse who can turn their hooves to pretty much anything you ask of it. As much as I love the arab, I will probably get another part-bred when it's time to look again.

She's right, she is FABULOUS, I know the lady she was on loan to, we did a 'fault finding' on all the horses one day and the only thing we could come up with was 'she spooked once when she was tied up getting ready to go out and she pulled back'

I had a little 13.2hh Welsh x Arab a few years ago as a project. Was a very pretty little pony (also had a flaxen mane and tail which always looks cute). A lovely natured chap and extremely willing - was a dream to back and take out to events etc. Really nice mix IMO.

My 14.3hh welsh/arab
Competed up to and including BE intermediate level - he won a ruck load of novices
Competed CCI
Jumped up to 1.20m
Did medium dressage unaffiliated and qualified for the nationals at elementary
-He was a bit of a dude! :D

One of the best horses I have ever owned was a 14.3hh Chestnut Cob/Arab mare called breeze. She would do anything and was such an easy mare to ride, great on the roads, open fields, forest etc.... you wont be disappointed.

Here's my 15.3 17yo arab x welsh x tb!
I would deffo have another, loads of fun, good brain, has a go at anything, and lovely character!
Here he is from various time over the last year or so.
