Ok, so the other day Ben gave himself an owchy when hooning around in the field
just a little nick a few inches above the fetlock. He was sound as as a pound, nick was cleaned and treated, he was swollen the next day, around the tendon and the joint, not too much, just puffy and not lame. As a precaution, after hosing and cleaning wound I poulticed the wound and bandaged both legs overnight. The next morning nothing icky came out, but he was still puffy so was put on full turnout and a couple of ice pack treatments more during the day. By the next day, the puffiness and heat were completely gone, again he had full turnout, today still ok and was stabled during the day (no puffiness).
So basically, he was not lame at all, had no infection has had no puffiness or heat for two days and in any case it was only minor... But I'm being silly and worried to ride him
. On the other hand, I think he'd probably enjoy a little ten minute pootle in walk as he had a few days off after royal Cornwall and then gave himself this owchy. Tomorrow is a year since ebony, and I would like to ride him, know I can, know in reality he will be absolutely fine but I'm being stupid and overcautious...
Anyone feel like kicking me or giving me a slap?
