More of a sheep related post but hoping some horsey people has some experience. I have 3 acres for a 16hh hrse and 14hh pony. About 60% of the field is clover and buttercups. Some one mentioned sheep or goats as they eat most of these.

I put an ad out offering temp grazing for sheep and explained why and had a message back off a woman who is interested... Now I am confused.. How many sheep can be put in this field and what if they ate the grass and not the clovers! Does anyone have experience with this?

No idea how many you can put on there but they will most certainly eat the grass too!! Sheep are good to cross graze with as the eat everything including worms!

Sheep browse as well as graze. They will eat the grass inc the clover. They probably won't do much for the butter cups unless you graze it hard.

If the fencing is good chuck loads on, graze it tight and take them off as soon as it's done.

When I bought my boy he was living in a field with sheep and it was more clover than grass. The fields without sheep had almost no clover. I'm not sure if the sheep did that or not, but they definitely ate the grass down and fertilised it making it super lush!
