What does everyone think about using those temporary shoes e.g Shoof's or Old Macs when your horse looses a shoe?

i was just wondering as mine has lost one at the moment and the farrier is booked up son cant come for a week. she has already had 2 weeks off as i was ill and didnt have the energy to ride so could really do with doing something!!!

I have never used them but I did have 1 horse that cameout fresh like everyday so on the odd occasion he lost a shoe i just rode him it was on a good soft surface but normally i would wait till they were shod but it wasnt an option with him

Old Macs are good but are pretty expensive (around £90 per pair) and you do have to measure the foot accurately to get the correct size.

I use Old Mac's and I think they are pretty good but they are expensive, I paid £105 for a pair. I am thinking about getting her a pair for her backs when she is used to the fronts. Even though they are expensive in 12 weeks I would of got my money back, the farrier is £60 a go every 6 weeks
