I need suggestions on what I can add to his small bran mash feeds as he's not touched anything in 3 days other than hay. Tried mint and no luck.

You could try a feed especially for fussy eaters. If not you could use pony nuts, chaff or something simple that might have a better taste :)

He's not a well boy, he's got peritinitus which is a stomach infection and vet has said bran mashed only to help stop him being colicky.

you could try making the bran mash with warm water (as EKW suggested) and put a little drop of molasses through it.

Try adding boilng water, let it cool for a short while then add some salt. The boiling water causes the bran to fluff up somewhat and the salt will often tempt a finicky eater. It will also encourage more water consumption which can help lower the colic risk. I hope he gets well again soon.

Echo that - apple juice. We always have some of that ultra heat treated stuff that lasts for ages in the first aid kit. You do add sugars to the feed - but for Buzz I don't think that is a issue? You just need to get bran mash down him somehow.

Otherwise trial and error. If not apple juice or mint... strangely rosemary can help. I've also used crushed nettles for a desperately ill pony. You can just get grass - mash it really well in fresh water, careful not to let it ferment, strain it and pour that over. Mashed strained banana? Chilling feeds can help - so can heating them. What is his favorite?

Can he have ready mash ? I warm mine up and they love it ? Just had a bit more flavour Han bran but if only allowed bran maybe add mint or garlic in ?

Will deffo try all suggestions, and he loves rich tea biscuits so may crush a few up. Thankyou al,, its really going to be trial and error. Will keep you updated.

Spearmint (you can buy it dried) or regular garden mint. I keep a pot of it growing outside the stable door and tear up a few leaves into feeds. Most gardeners will be only too glad to give you some, it spreads a bit too much for them.
