Owen has finally been fixed up ( again! YAY!) courtesy of my fab physio and vet, and is due to start walking out again next week after several months off work.

He needs to now do 4 weeks roadwork. The problem is where to keep him. He is currently living at the physio's yard but the outriding there is atrocious ( major roads) and no way will I ride on that. I do not want to keep him at home because its way too muddy there in the winter. The only other yard that I could keep him at ( if they had a space) is a huge yard with fab off road riding.
The problem is here, that Owen lived at this yard a few years ago and came down with 2 major viruses (including Herpes) while at this yard which meant he had 7 months of work in total. He was the only horse to get ill at the yard but since he has left, there have been a further 5 horses getting serious viruses there over the last 2 years. All cases seem vaguely unrelated and random, but still....I just wonder, does a large yard stress a horses immune system??Not only is there the stress of the busier yard, but all the extra bugs flying around. If I take a horse there that has an already an compromised immunity, am I tempting fate?? On the other hand, it is prob the only yard that I can take him to. But not sure if I want to risk it, even if it will only be for 4 weeks.Grr. Maybe it was all just bad luck?
