I have just got a very good polo pony for a very good price. The reason for this is that he has a slightly 'dodgy' leg!

He is a very forward sort but short-coupled and prone to bashing himself in the back of the near fore with his near hind. He tends to hit just above the fetlock and often pulls the shoe off too. I have invested in some carbon fibre eventing boots which I put over bandages and some kevlar overreach boots (which I don't think he has ever worn before as he did The Ministry Of Silly Walks the first time I put them on)

I played him the other day and he was absolutely amazing but there was a touch of heat in the area the day after. The area is slightly scarred, and he reacts slightly upon palpation. I have decided to rest him as a result as obviously it needs time to heal properly. I may invest in some magnetic boots also.

What I would like to know is; has anyone come across this type of strike injury before? If so, what is the prognosis? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
