Tendon boots rubbing.. help pls

My turnout boots have rubbed my mares legs and I am worried about the hair growing back white.. is there anything I can put on to help them heal and stop the hairs going white?

your main priority needs to be keeping them clean and dry and not having boots on to rub for the time being. why do you not want them back white, do you show or is it just because it will look different. If you show you could use makeup on show days, not ideal but it would do. Normally to grow back white the area will have had some constant trauma, how long were the boots on for before you noticed the rubs?
 
She wears them on during turn out and has used them all winter. I stopped using them 4 weeks ago then 3 weeks ago scaps appeared like mud rash. They dropped off leaving tender skin underneath. I have kept them clean and they are doing ok but I cant work out why they suddenly went like that... i wonder of it was the really hot weather that caused some bacterial infection underneath
