My boy is at the vets 2day. After a long walk the next day his leg was swollen. He at the vets having x-rays 2day. Just got a call saying not fractures but looks like tendon damage. I understand the recovery in horses but not in dogs. Has anyone had any experience??? He is a gsp and very lively goes 2 the yard twice a day and cant b left in the house, been told 14days house bound with lead walk to loo. Any advice how 2 cope?

I used to have a whippet that dislocated his wrist, causing awful tendon damage. he was strapped up for a good few weeks. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the breed - speed merchants! - we had continual problems with that particular leg and in the end couldn't risk him running. The slightest spurt and he would run up lame. But that was 13 years ago and things have moved on. Once hes up to it, I would road walk him for a while, don't rush to let him run and bound about too soon. Good Luck!
