regarding my previous post on taz's tendon, i have called vet three times for someone to scan but last phone call was told she was off for two weeks now not one.
so iv changed vets and coming tomorro to scan so having to be cheeky and ask next door for electric.
ill refresh anyway...thursday came up lame, weight baring ok, tendon swelled and heat in fetlock and tendon, cold hosed and put in.
bute started on the friday night, heat had gone and swelling all gone still bandaged and cold hosed throughout.
now tuesday he was hoping lame but no heat or swelling, tried best to press to see if any pressure
To be hoping lame not wanting to weight bare on bute does this sound like abcess to you, im thinking it has been abcess all along and just travelled up leg as his lameness is getting worse even on the bute. Should i poultice tonight or wait for vets approval?
Because ill have to move him next door for scan, should i let vet come to my yard first and assess then if needs scan lead him round when vet is there? or just lead him round before vet arrives but dont want to put him through the pain if not needing scan.
you dont realise how happy i am that a vet is coming even if the call out is double what it would have been im so much happier

I'm inclined to think abscess TBH. You could poultice but if it's high in the foot it's not likely to come out unless a hole is dug into the horses foot.
Can you not get your farrier to pop out and check the horses foot before the vet comes out, you might not need the vet at all.
For the vet tomorrow I'd leave the horse on the yard, wait for the vet to check them over before moving, you might not need to go to the other yard

my girl came in sunday night practically on 3 legs, she wouldn't really weight bare and when she did the whole leg shook. Started her on danilon and she was weight baring the next morning but came in very lame again in the evening.Farrier has just been to her and rang me saying she has a huge abcess (2nd one in as many months) and he has dug it out etc etc.sounds similar to yours but i wouldn't like to say he has an abscess for sure

Myself and my farrier were convinced my horse had an abcess when she first went lame. Nothing could be found and in the end she did have a tendon tear. It could be either TBH. The only way of knowng is either to dig the abcess out, or to scan and see a problem with the tendon. Fingers crossed for an abcess!!
