Tendon Surgery in older horses

Hi there, joining today to see if anyone can share any experiences they've had (Good or bad) following a surgical tendoscopy to treat a chronic tendon injury??? My mare is 20 and would like to give her the best chance of having a happy and sound old age after all our fun together. The vet feels its the best option for her. Any advice welcome!
