I have 5 year old with a superficial digital flexor tendon branch injury. He has been box rested for 12 weeks with no improvement showing on the ultrasound.

Has anybody any experience with this injury, how long did it take to repair?

have you tried any sort of therapy on him?

Hydrotherapy?
Shockwave?
Magnets?
Lasers?

Often rest is not enough as you need to stimulate the healing and help the fibres to lay down in an organised fashion

My horse had this about two years ago in two places - behind the knee slightly to the outside and just above the fetlock just to the inside ( think he had been titting about int he field and had twisted the leg due to the site of the injuries. He was box rested for 16 weeks (would maybe have been a shorted period but he buggered off when I was mucking out one day and it put him back a bit) had one scan , was on danilon for about a month to begin with ,then a gap and then again when he ran off. We also cold hosed on a regular basis. Then was out in the field for a month and began ridden work after that with 8 weeks of walking building up to nearly 2 hours(soooooo boring

) and has not taken a lamestep on it since. He is in work 5/6 times a week and is now jumping up to 1.25 m courses.

He has had bioflow magnetic boots on but that is it. He is insured but my vet has not suggested anything else. My breeder raised concerns over this too.

He has had no bute, No hosing advised although there has never been any heat or visable swelling. Time I caq do. I have had him from a foal and watched him grow but I was so disappointed to see him look worse when trotted up this week.

Mine had been given to me by my dads boss and his trainers were not happy about him coming to me anyway so to phone and tell them that kind of finished it off . Not sure really whta else to suggest but if you search on here there are loads of posts about tendons, treatments etc hope things turn out ok

I'd be asking your vet about shockwave. I don't know enough to say whether it would be suitable but when my horse did his hind suspensory I was advised it would not heal without active treatment. He had four lots of shockwave followed by three months rest and was sound.
