Tension of Clippers?

I still haven't come to grips with the correct tensioning of my heavy-duty clippers. How do you tell if the tension is right? When I turn the tension knob there doesn't seem to be much difference in the sound of the motor. I have only used them a few times so far for hogging and feather clipping but would like to know that they're set correctly.

It depends on the make of clipper. It should tell you in the istruction book how many turns you need to make to get them right.

I have Listers, they are 1.5 turns back from finger tight for all clipping including hogging.

They are Liscop clippers and the instructions aren't very clear about tensioning. Thanks anyway.

Yep same for my old Stablemates!

The company I bought my clippers off told me to loosen the knob and start to clip, obviously they don't cut as they are loose, but he told me to tighten the knob a 1/4 turn and keep trying until the blades cut the hair. If that makes sense?

K9Wendy - thats how I do it. If they don't cut properly, keep turning until they clip the hair well.
