As a few people may know as i had such lovely messages from many people, on the 3rd June last year I got a call as I was leaving my house to go and put my little man out that he wasnt moving and had died over night.

I have had the same nightmare twice in the last week that next Thursday which will be the 3rd June I arrived at the yard and find my new mare in the same state and its really bothering me, I know she isn't him and this isnt dejevu and that im being really silly but its really getting to me as every over night it seems I am having the same nightmare.

What can it mean, any ideas on how I can get rid of it.

Its not silly, its your subconcious brain working. Your concious brain is the side that says its not real, your mare is safe, etc but your subconcious brain holds on to memories and 'films' or images of the past and it will be triggered by something like a smell, sound, sight, etc. In your case your subconcious has been triggered by the date.

Unfortunately there isnt a quick way to stop it but you have to say to yourself stop everytime you have horrible thoughts and try to only see positive images. Basically, retraining your subconcious brain by giving it positivity and not allowing yourself to re-live the negative event.

Sorry for your loss

Iiwould arrange to have your friends around you all evening to try and keep your spirits up. What is your yard manager like? with this nice weather maybe you could arrange a camp night with some friends from the yard and have a bbq or something so you are nearby to reassure yourself and with friends.

I think I will ask a friend to txt me in the morning when she arrives to tell me she is ok beacuse i used to have alot of anxiety. Its prob beacuse my mare is so much like my man used to to a T.

I think Ill make sure i am really tired before i go to bed otherwise my mind will wonder, its silly,.

that's a nice idea!

I really feel for you on this as you can't really stop/change what you dream. It is only your brain compartmentalising your worries and memories and because the milestone date is nearing, it's causing you to remember the worry and upset so much more clearly.
Do try to not be on your own for those few days around it and give your mare an extra big hug when you go to see her that day. Good luck x

Thank you, I live with Parents so im not short of people being around me and that day im at the suffolk show with friends so I think ill be ok but these dreams are horrible, I have my boy at home in a box as he was cremated and my mare isnt short of affection and love as she gives so much to me all the time.

I have my 2 dogs that I lost in their boxes at home too - it's nice to have them close still isn't it? Have a little chat with him on the day and take time out to remember what a great time you had together - I really think once the 'day' itself has passed, you should find this nightmare goes away as the pressure is lessoned.
P.S This is normal - parents who have suffered the loss of a child often have dreams of this nature about any siblings, so go easy on yourself :)
