I have an 8 year old Norfolk x jack Russell she's normally odd in the sense that she dithers and is a bit neurotic but she's taken to spending the day under the sofa!! She's eating and going to the toilet as normal but does seem to be sleeping rather a lot.

Normally if you don't take her out she's manic but I'm 38 weeks pregnant so we have been having little walks I would be expecting a manic nightmare but she's lying on my clothes on the floor asleep or on me if she's not under the sofa!

She's not even really bugging the other dog as much as usual.. Would anyone take her to the vet? It's a tough one because there isn't anything as such wrong with her I'm wondering if she's finally growing up? Or maybe it's something underlying just wondered what others think?

I'm no dog expert but I wonder if she senses that you are pregnant and is staying close to you because of that.

We have two JRTs, one is devoted to my OH and will guard his clothes, one night he left a pair of jeans over the aga rail with the legs touching the floor and the dog lay on them, refusing to go to bed until they were put away. He also frequently carries one of OH's socks around and won't let the othe rdog near!

The second dog is much more attached and nervy but if I'm unwell he doesn't like to leave me and will lie quietly beside me for hours not bothering with anything else. It's amazing how perceptive and sensitive they can be and I wouldn't be surprised if your dog just senses things are "different" with you due to pregnancy.

Good luck with your baby!

Hopefully it is just that .. Was feeling bad about not taking her to the vet..

She's grumbling under the sofa now for no reason- very odd dog!!

Maybe il give it till the weekend was just worried she is sickening for something but then I'm not normally here all day either so maybe it's what she does when I'm not here! Old dog is very happy it's not being plucked or jumped on!

Have you just started maternity leave? Maybe she normally sleeps under the sofa all day and is only manic when you get home as she has been resting all day?

Having said that if you are still worried in a few days I would take her to the vet just for peace of mind. She is your dog and you are best placed to know when something isn't right.

Yes I've only been home a little while but normally they aren't allowed in here.

She's been sat under it grumbling at nothing for the past hour.. Will give it till Friday she is neurotic normally but this is quite odd even for her!
