Well I’ve never had one before, and if I’m honest I never expected to have one 😄

I’m astonished how different they are to sighthounds - I expected the cocky self-assured approach to life, and the constant commenting on everything 🙄 - but they are so endearing too! From day one, George has been relaxed and comfortable with me and has decided I am his number one person in life even though he had never met me before!!!!

You will all have realised I’m a soft touch from my other posts 😂 but George is such a little dude, I can’t quite imagine life without him even after a few weeks.....

They do..... 😂😂 but he does!!! Another thing that has astonished me lol - he jumps up into the car/onto my bed without any problem, and he beetles along nineteen to the dozen on walks and keeps up with no problems!

It’s a bit like watching a millipedes legs 😛😂😂

I was always going to have a terrier in my life as my childhood dog was a JRT. He was the best dog ever. Current one is the perfect dog apart from her desire to eat anything smaller than her and fluffy 🙄. Apart from that she’s brilliant.
 
Ah yes.... we have encountered George’s unpredicted tendency to attack any other dog when on a walk 😳 Strangely his perfect recall goes out of the window 🙄 so he has walks on a flexi lead now which he is fine with 😊

Just went to find him to illustrate my gushing post, and he was hiding in the crate 🙄 Numpty, he is trying to prove a point I think as he sleeps on my bed now 😄

Mine is excellent with other dogs luckily, it’s the squirrels, mice, birds and cats that aren’t so safe (especially annoying as next door but one has 7 cats!). She once killed a hedgehog which I still haven’t forgiven her for 😠 She’s always on a lead, a flexi one or a 30m one if it’s a big open space.

Oh that would all be fine, I’m used to that with the greyhounds and lurchers and it doesn’t bother me a bit, I just manage it. This was rather different.... suffice to say George will never ever be allowed the remotest opportunity to let that happen again 😳 Some choice words were had.....
 
I never wanted a terrier and years ago went to the RSPCA to rehome another dog. I said, just give me a dog, anyone will do, except a terrier. The staff member went off and returned with a tiny 12 week old terrier and placed it in my arms. On being corrected to his mistake, he said ok, give it back then. I didn't let go of the tiny scrap with her big button nose, promptly named her Button and had a fantastic 16 years with her. She cured me of my preconceived ideas of any breed of dog. I've never met a dog that wasnt amazing.
 
Oh Levrier!! Having never thought it wouldn't be a hounds only household here I am utterly hooked by my terrier. Never had a dog like him but from what I understand he is pretty normal in terrier terms :) He is bold but clever, independent but loyal (unlike my divinely independent hound who is loyal in a very different manner!!) and clearly enjoys just about anything that I suggest might be fun. Hounds enjoy what they enjoy and other things are overlooked - my terrier is just up for anything. :) I am not sure I would never want a hound but I think I might also always want a terrier as well now...
 
We had a succession of German Shepherd dogs up until Hector.

GSDs are useful. They guard. Even had Talos taking the haynet out and putting the lorry ramp down. Yankee could track like a pro.

Hector is not trainable, no. He trains US!

Hector is the only one who sleeps on the bed. We take turns going out most of the time because he does not like to be left.
 
I’ve always kept a terrier with my lurchers. They are an ideal match imo. The tenacious, pocket rocket that is a terrier can certainly hold its own against the larger, faster, wind up merchants that is a lurcher😀

Terriers consider it their absolute right to sleep on the softest, cosiest bed. Well, my two do. Woe betide any human wanting to actually get a good night's sleep in the same bed :)
 
Aww what a lovely post. They do have a certain charm, terriers. Those bright clever eyes, with a glint of mischief in them! I’m so glad he’s landed on his paws with you.

I’ve had to start locking the bin (had to buy a special pet lock one!) as Frank has taken to raiding it again, the little toad. He never tried it while George was here, probably just didn’t want to share the spoils..!
 
I am a terrier owner have had Jack's and Scottish breeds. They all go off the lead, have excellent recall and their own breed traits. My current girl is from the Blue Cross a cairn x scottie they said. Very well trained and intelligent.
