Have been meaning to update for a while now, but here goes…

A couple of weeks ago I posted about how Chloe and I were terrorised by a group of local kids in our village (link to old post here:http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/foru...s=JH58&topic=&Search=true#Post2044809 ) After asking for advice on here I decided to report them to the police and I am glad I did. Have to say, I was SOOO impressed by Sussex Police, they took the incident very seriously after one of the beat officers rang me only a few hours after I reported it. As soon as they collected more details from me they were out of the door before I put the phone down, on a Saturday too! I didn’t know the number of the house but as she knew the area so well from her patrols they knew exactly where I was talking about.

Glad I didn’t go round there myself now, as a family who lived in that house matched the description (3 kids right ages) said they took their kids out that evening – Grrr! So obviously it was them and they did not want to face up to their children’s behaviour anyway. The police still told them and all the parents in the area about the dangers of frightening horses and that they would be keeping a very close eye on the area in future. Hopefully that will be enough to frighten the pants off them and make it a safe place to ride.

Oh and anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation – the police told me in future to dial 999! Even got to keep the mobile number of the local beat officer so that I can ring her directly if I have any more problems.

So, there you have it, they aren’t all bad! Yay for putting officers back on the beat again!

Thats great news

You will have to keep us updated as to whether these little brats listen or not!!!

Once had a police officer visit our workplace and he said it doesn't matter where you are, you always have the right to call the police if you're being harrassed/threatened/abused etc. as it's against the law.

I think a lot of the times when you're in a frightening situation it just doesn't cross your mind, but I've been in a few situations where I've been threatened without me provoking anything, and I always keep my mobile handy whenever I go out and would ring 999 with no qualms.

Our local police were great when I was deliberately spooked by some youths in a car,and I did dial 999 from the back of the horse!

The polices Equine Lianson officers are amazing in all dealings I have had with them. One time Pikeys squating ponies on land near mine were beating up a new youngster which jumped out onto the road. I was passing so put it back in the field only to see why it jumped out and he jumped out again. I called cops who turned up very quickly and pikeys arrived too. Pikeys said they would shoot the pony!

Pikeys went home leaving me and cops with this pony so they arranged a trailer for pony to be taken to a safe place (I travelled in the trailer with it) and the trailer had a police escort all the way to the yard!!

The police are doing the job that the RSPCA SHOULD BE DOING!
