Tesco Comfort Bridle?!

I think it would be interesting who their suppliers are... after all - it could potentially be someone like say GFS but without the GFS branding - in which case the quality would be fine.

Do we know, are these ENGLISH leather bridles or where are they made? Might give a better idea...

English leather is not made in England, its a quality standard as in you tan to make English, German or generic cheap stuff.

Most bridles carry the flag are put together in england, which can either mean they were made or just put together over here!

However I still think £44 is expensive for an unknown quality.

Rambo - like you I also bought that bridlle from the saddle shop - actually bought 2 one for my friend as well and they are brilliant! We use them round the yard and for schooling!
If I can remember they were £14.99 + p&p!!

I think they had afew tbh....There were some around the £14.99 mark, and others I recall at £19.99...but either way, excellent value for money

personally i wouldnt touch heritage with a bargepole!!! but there we go.

rhinegold do a similar version but with german leather, which is infinately better but still 'cheap'? or kincade is good and basic but not comforty...

You do realise Heritage and Rhinegold is made by the same manufacturer?????

The leather is just tanned differently, so depends whether you prefer more stuffing and soft which is German or English which you can feed and is less prone to changing shape due to less stuffing.

However the price difference in the Heritage and Rhinegold items, should be the leather quality as all other costs are the same (both leathers cost near enough the same to tan)

the tesco products are made by a european company that is already well established under a different name.

But they do not wish to be identified. This may be because they are a company that produces products and charge more money for them due to the 'brand name'.

So they are designed by equestrians. Not just random tesco employees who fancy designing horsey gear. ;-)

no 1 no's me im new on here i thought id try the tescos range as it woz quite cheap and bought a full neck rug off there it is quite nice actually duno bout anything else on there tho!

The buyer for the Tesco range does know about horses as is an owner/rider who competes affiliated. Definitely knows about horses needs and will have chosen the design team well.

Have to say though Robinsons do an imported leather comfort bridle for less than Tesco and agree that the Heritage English leather comfort bridle (or Rhinegold german leather) options from ebay are excellent value and good quality.

I think it looks fine in the pic, don't think any of our branches round here do the equestrian stuff or I'd go have a look.

Well OK looks fine in the pic other than a plelham with a flash, roundings, and martingale stops with no martingale... but thats just being picky!

I got a rug for my horse from tesco it its great! Cheap but fits him perfect. Havent had any trouble with it and ive bought a headcollar from there which again fits him nice and i havent had any trouble with..

re: heritage dislike

i keep hearing good reports about them, but there was a bit of a craze at the yard for them, and the leather on so many of them just looks 'flakey' (dyou know what i mean? when you bend it?) even after oiling, and the older ones started to crack...
also possibly biased by so many people having them on horses with fine heads (thay are bulky bridles... just a personal pet hate)?

a few people had the stud girths also, but never managed to get the whitish protection stuff off? which was bizzare. and the design seemed kinda strange.. the stud part seemed a small target to hit with a stud! and not cut back at the elbow. but just personal opinion again i guess

but yea... just not something i would want to buy.. maybe just a bad experience, who knows!
