"Tesco killed my husband" - your thoughts?

I suppose it's a natural reaction to want to apportion blame when someone you love dies in this sort of circumstance, but I agree with everybody's comments that it was simply a tragic accident. If someone dies when they skid of the road in a car and a hit lampost, you don't try and sue the council for putting the lampost there do you?

I feel dreadfully sorry for the poor woman, but I think she needs to realise that accidents like this (that lead to an awful outcome) do happen.

I don't think they should sue tesco, but I don't think that will stop the widdow.

I crashed my car recently - all my own fault - and I was disgusted to see that the A&E dept seemed to be sponsored by a no win no fee solicitor. Talk about encouraging that culture.

I think this is really sad. I am sure that had the man not fallen and needed surgery, he would not have had the heart attack at this point in time. However, if you are walking on prosthetic limbs, after recovering from surgery, you are probably more likely to be unsteady on your feet and more prone to a trip and fall. So I don't think the blame lies solely with Tescos, although the strip should be in good repair, and I think their gesture of 8k is reasonable - it will cover funeral expenses etc.

Trips and falls can be funny things - I once shattered my knee cap after falling while walking down a corridor (the shiny concrete floor was wet and my foot just went from under me) and I was neither elderly or disabled in any way. This was a few years ago, and the thought to sue didn't even cross my mind, although I am sure there would be a case.

Tricky one this, "if it happenened once it can happen again" to have the same set of circumstances again ie artificail limbs diabetic same metal strip, is slightly remote, "if it's not about the money" why is £8000.00, perhaps less should be offered then, maybe £800.00, if the strip is not considered dangerous by the HSE then it's just an accident, end of, if they consider it dangerous and unsafe then the skys the limit, I bloody hate Tesco's anyway, buying up all availble land ect, sue the shite out of them for me.
