Test Tips!

Remember to breathe every time you feel like tensing and going for the reins deep breath.
Remember where to go ( not good at this myself)
Smile going Down the centre line it naturally relaxs you
And remember you do horses because you enjoy it !!!

I've done some judging and riding lately, some things keep cropping up.

Straightness on entry, particularly if you are already "in" the arena.
A clear distinction between corners and 20m circles.
As above, better to ride a good smooth transition slightly off the marker.
Allow as much freedom as possible in walk without dropping the contact.
Don't dwell on any mistakes, gloss over as much as possible and focus on re-establishing a good way of going.

All transitions in prelim and novice can been progressive side start preparing before the marker.

Read the rules!

Keep your reins short and ride in to the contact.

This is the thing I comment on most when judging.

Which test are you doing - can give you an idea of what most people can improve.

My biggest irritation at the moment is people who dont read N24 properly and ride the loops wrong. About 60% of people I judged over a 4 hr class recently, got a 5 in this movement for riding the loop the incorrect size.
