Basically as above! I want to pass my test so i can drive anything upto 7.5t, how much is it and what does it involve, also when i ring up training centre what am i asking for?! Is it CPC?
I don't know what you need to ask for - I am sure they'll tell you - my sister is about to do her driving test for this next week i think. As far as I know it has cost in total about £1500 and you have to do a hazard perception test and then a 5 day driving course (I think you can do a shorter one) then the driving test at the end. She will no doubt see this post later and let you know more!!
I don't know but i don't think it's CPC as my OH has that and doesn't even have a normal driving lic. Unless there are 2 different CPC's then it's more the theory behind national haulage and all the driver rules and management etc.
I looked into this last year. It all depends on if you do an intensive course or not...
It costs between £1000-1500 if you do an intensive course including the tests.
I was lucky and knew a lorry driver who used to be an instructor so was going to teach me in my own lorry for free, i would have only paid for the tests which in total came to between £150-200...
It's the C1. You'll need to have a medical first (£50 or there abouts). Then get the provisional licence (FREE!!!). Then book theory, take both hazard perception& standard questions (£70ish).
Then the driving can begin. I think my lessons were in the region of £120 for 3hr blocks (I could be way off that). I had 4 blocks & took my test in one of those. The test was about £100 or just under.
I found driving the lorry really easy, but I am happy driving in any car or van & always have been.
Good luck, it is worth it.
