Tests came back!!!

Sorry I didnt want to comment because I thought there was enough posts on here with advice and more lol! But wouldnt it be best to be on the safe side and just keep her on box rest? with the odd walk to stretch her legs? I have never had experience with ringworm but that just my opinion. I know its a completely different scenario but when a few horses (Including my old pony) got strangles years ago it was like a yard lockdown! EVERYTHING had to be cleaned and disenfected including our shoes and hands everytime we touched something lol.
Oh and I totally LOL'd at FL comment, yes please, I would love a tea!!

Well, I suppose there could be worse places to get pi**ed for the first time than here, surrounded by responsible, calm and reasonable adults:D

WHAT?? omg, where?? *looks around in a panicked way*

Oh, you mean THIS lot? Pah, I wouldn't trust em as far as I could throw em. Tea/coffee/whisky is in the corner (behind the birthing pool) I'm off to bed, keep the noise down won't you?

well I would say use your noddle and put 2 + 2 together - if she is stiff that means she must be in pain and if she's in pain is jumping the best thing for her ??? IMO, No it probably isn't, but at 14 maybe I would have been the same as you - so i'm not knocking you just trying to put perspective on it from your horses point of view.

Dont take this the wrong way but i wasnt this naive at 10 let alone 14! I waited 4 years to get a horse, and even then i was worried i didnt know enough! They are big complex animals with so many things that can go wrong with them!

And to answer the "jumping 4ft thing" my pony was lame and my friend had aranged to free school him over some jumps. She didnt notice he was lame and i came up and my pony was jumping jumps willingly! He was to honest to refuse!
(just to add i stopped her as soon as i saw, and she was distraught that she hadnt noticed)

We all make mistakes when we are young, but think how you would feel if Ebony went lame and the vet told you it was because of the jumping?

As for the ringworm, she should be in isolation with walks inhand or lunging, is there not a spare field you can lunge her in?

What.

The Flying.

Eff.

When on EARTH did ringworm turn into the bogeyman's disease? Or is it just different for a bunch of stuck up snobs of horse owners who get their kicks off bullying a 14yo girl?

Ringworm is a teeny tiny fungal thing. It's not that hugely infectious that horses can spread it by looking at a jump wing, and all this talk of isolation and quarentine is laudable!

I've had ringworm more than my horses, and yet somehow I didn't infect the world by leaving my bedroom. Amazing.

In fact, I've even stroked ringworm to diagnose a case and didn't get it. So I'm pretty sure looking at wooden objects is not going to infect a whole yard!

All this bother with the vets, a tube of canestan will do the trick (I use it, and I've never even given it to my horses!)

Obviously basic hygiene, wash your grooming kit, don't stroke other horses and watch the patches for rubbing (they're not scabs, it's the fungal infection... mwahaha!).

But get out and exercise the mare, this whole isolation thing is rubbish. Absolute rubbish. And I hope certain users are hanging their heads in shame at their treatment of a 14yo girl! You're pathetic, the lot of you!

Didt mean to cause this :/ only was saying about tests

Don't stess hun :). I said I was interested in changing careers, and look where that thread is lol. Ah well. Nowt so queer as folk.

Just keep coming on and asking your questions. Ignore those that would wish to cause hurt, although bear in mind that they don't know you, don't know circumstances, etc., and that on the whole they will be wanting what is best for the horses, even though it might not seem that way at the time.
