Hi all
I haven't been in here for quite a while, but I could do with some advice and vibes from you all. On Friday my lab took very ill with suspected tetanus (very odd- no idea how she got it) and has been staying in doggy hospital at the vets on antibiotics and a drip.
Has anyone every experienced tetanus in a dog before or any advice? Any get well vibes would also be greatly appreciated :)

What a shame for your Labrador. I remember reading somewhere that tetanus is extremely rare in dogs that's why they are not vaccinated for it. I really hope all goes well for a speedy recovery, must be so stressful for you. Keep us posted.

^^^^Vibes for your girl^^^^
Tetanus is rare in dogs but not unheard of.I've seen it once as a student in a dog...half a dozen times in cattle and twice in horses.its a horrible disease.
The only advise I can give is when visiting her try as much a possible not to get her excited.calmness dark and quiet is the best way to keep the tremors at bay.

fingers and everything crossed for your girl.

Thanks all :)
She is very nearly back to her old self, and had her last shot of penicillin today. She is home, and has been hounding me all day wanting to play ball!
She is going to have very regular check ups at the vets for a while just make sure she is over it. But fingers crossed she is on the mend and continues to improve!
