I know a lot of you on here have used TFT to help control your nerves / confidence issues, and I wondered if you thought it was worth it and whether it really helped long term. I have contacted Jo Cooper, but before I make an appointment I wanted to see what you thought, it is a lot of money for me to pay out, but if it would help it will probably be worthwhile.

Thanks

I know a few people who have reasonably successfully used TFT and more specifically Jo Cooper to help with their nerves. Am thinking of trying it myself

I did it last March after getting to the point where I would only walk on my youngster and was getting so nervous. I think it helps if you know the exact point you lost your nerve ie a specific fall although you'll be amazed what else comes out when talking to Jo!
I needed approx 5 hours of treatment on the phone (over 3 sessions) and it enabled me to trot my youngster whereas before I'd be thinking "what if "and never do it!
However I am not totally cured, due to bolting etc i have an irrational fear of cantering on hacks, and because i havent got a horse at the mo still dont know how bad i am but I know its in my head if that makes sense!

120% worth it

I know shes put her prices up when I last spoke to her but she is amazing and with the effect I got almost straight away she is def worth it!

Is she very expensive?

If you have a look through her site I think the prices are on there. iirc though, when I looked for myself I changed my mind on seeing the price!

To Gorgeous_George:
I read that you had a recent fall off George...
I too had a fall at the weekend and although i got straight back on, i didnt go past the banner, which caused her to spook and send my out the side door!
Tonight is the night and im ok about it but its on my mind...

How are you after your fall?

I used her when I had a loss of confidence in jumping. We had 2 sessions, each lasting an hour or two, and I have to say, I was totally sceptical at first. However, it made an unbelieveable difference to me, I got my confidence back to probably 95% of what it once was.

TOTALLY worth it. Email Jo first and tell her your fears/worries/concerns. It's very important you break them down into the smallest possible 'chunks' and be as specific as possible. I was soooo sceptical at first, but it really helped me conquer my jumping and show nerves (My full story is on Jo's website

) It might seem a bit pricey at first if you're not convinced (as I was!) that it'll work, but Jo does 'top ups' for free if there are lingering issues AND she did it long distance for me! I'd do it again in a SHOT as the results were almost instantaneous!

I used her, thought it was expensive but worth it at the time, I rode much more confidently. However, some issues have crept back, so have had a couple of sessions with a sports psychologist, which have helped. Think I will call Jo up again too, maybe I'm just specially mad!!

Yes, it definately works. I don't know why, but it does. Since working with Jo, if I am having a wobble (e.g. at a show) I cn run through a tapping sequence myself and settle myself down nicely

Also my wobbles are quite managable now. I wouldn't have been going to a show to wobble about before I went to Jo

If you divide her fee by 12 and think about 12 sessions with a counsellor, it would seem pretty reasonable wouldn't it? You'll get more out of TFT for riding though! and its only the price of a rug for the horse (funny how we will spend so much on our fury ones, but are so reluctant to spend money like this on making things easier for ourselves)!
