I live near Brentwood, Essex and my horse is near Ingatestone. We have about 6-8" of snow where I live and a lot more at the yard, I can't get there as 7 miles each way is a tad too far to walk when you have to contend with commuting into London every day as well.

George is on full livery, but our yard manager doesn't live on site or anywhere near, but she managed to get to the yard on Tuesday and is now staying with the yard owners to make sure all of the horses are turned out, cared for, fed and watered :) Heaven only knows how long it will be before she can get home to her own bed and husband :( Although I miss George like crazy I am so thankful that she is there looking after George and the other horses and also saving me from risking life and limb trying to get there.

What a star :)

What a brilliant YO :)

I'm on DIY but there's only Ethel and Bob, my YO's horse, so she helps out a lot. I only live and work 2 mins up the road but with the snow the hours at the yard I work at are all over the place so she's been feeding in the mornings, skipping her out, giving hay, making sure she has enough water and turning out if we're finishing late. She normally gets them in too if they haven't been out long by time I have to go back to work and she's constantly filling up buckets of water for me from her house :) Obviously I help out when I can with her horse with turning out and rugging up, feeding etc, but I always feel bad cause she does a lot more for me than I do for her, but at the moment she's a life saver!

Wow, what a wonderful person, and what a relief for you too.

I am so lucky to have my boys at home, but its hard work having to fill jerry cans in the kitchen and get them down to the yard, as all the taps froze up days ago!
Lucky and new horse Splodge are in at night, but little Eddie prefers to be out, but when I went down to hay them at 10pm last night it had just started snowing, I opened up the stable door and the field gate and gave Eddie the choice of having hay in the field as usual, or coming in, and he marched himself into the yard and put himself to bed! :D

I was really relieved to be able to turn them all out in to small paddocks just off the yard today, I think they would have gone mad shut in all day.

Hope you can get to see George before too long.

Our pony is on full livery during the week and they have been amazing. She is not allowed out at the moment and the girls have been walking her in hand in the snow. Plus i've been ill all week, however managed to get up this afternoon and she seemed pleased to see us. I'm just so grateful to them.
