Thanks...and epsom salts

Thanks to all who responded to my question about hoof abscesses and my vet and farrier having different opinions on how to tackle it. I am going to try the soaking in epsom salts that has been suggested, but can anyone advise where I can find it/buy it from please...is it just a Tesco job or do I need a chemist?

you can buy it at either but supermarket will be cheaper

I get it from local feed merchants or you can order it directly from Gold Label

I think chemists only sell it in very small tubs now and would work out quite expensive

The cheapest place to buy it is a hardware shop, its apparently used in gardening so they sell very big packs of it for a much cheaper price than you would pay in a chemist shop. If you don't have a local hardware shop somewhere like Homebase or B&Q should have it in the gardening section.

The other name for Epsom salts is magnesium sulphate.

Our feed shop sells them - 3kgs for about £6.

Boots used to sell big bags of it, not sure if they still do.
