Thanks for the ideas - small child now whizzing around on pony!

After a post a little while ago, I spent some time devising more exciting games and getting some of the older children involved. My son is now racing through the games (at a canter, no need to hold onto the saddle any more!) to try and beat everyone else on their 13.2hh ponies. He is also busily setting himself targets of the things he needs to improve so he can win more often! Little Shetland LOVES it too and is as competitive as he is. I will have to find some shows that do lead rein gymkhana in the summer!

Just about! I think that will change as my son gets more confident - she is being slightly steadier at the moment to look after him!

Is there a local pony club you could join , most run a mounted games team and they have lots of fun and make loads of friends . Glad he is happy

Definitely look for a competitive mounted games team in a local pony club, it's great fun and ho knows he could ultimately end up representing England at Windsor or his branch at HOYS.

Great to hear that he and his pony are having so much fun. I always feel sorry for little children sat looking perfectly turned out and bored sick on their blood ponies in the showing ring while their parents nag them for not having won the class.
