I am sure you know the one I am talking about. I feel insulted that they should accept such an intrusive advert . Shows what they think about us .

Well I hope TFC gets on with it I think this is the second one that has been giving me grief. I was going to ask if anyone knew how to stop it.

PM the TFC - as i have said i am happy to look at adverts to do with horses - but as for the rest of the stuff they are peddling - i would not give it house room - you dont get the adverts in the day.... as well i know cause i spend most of it on here - but come about 7pm the adverts start..... they are annoying but the x box one is a joke and i am half deaf !

TFC relied to a thread about this :

Not our domain I'm afraid (we only administer the forum we do not run the site or place the ads). We will, however, pass on the comments of this thread, though I suspect it won't be seen and/or addressed until tomorrow.

Gonna vote with my feet and log off for now then - its spoiling my enjoyment of my favourite forum! Night all:cool:

I kept wondering what people were complaining about - I'd totally forgotten I'd installed Adblock! That explains the little empty box at the top of my window...

Seriously worth a look - I think there are versions for various browsers. As I say, forgot I was using it, and it must be doing its job cos I couldn't work out where you were all seeing ads :D

EDIT: not affiliated with it in any way, and it's free, so wouldn't make sense if I was!

ad block for Google chrome is an absolute god send. Blocks adverts on youtube too which is a bonus. give it a google. its free. Think the web browser firefox do a similar app as well if I remember correct :)

Be careful installing Firefox - I did for this very reason and it introduced unwanted toolbars like a virus and I had to remove the whole lot. It affected my Microsoft Office Outlook and I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole suite and somehow in the process lost all my emails including those I thought were safely stored on the Tiscali server.

It was driving me insane too!! I wouldn't give a toss if it just sat there quietly, but i must have nudged it 300 times, made me jump! Ad block = successfully installed!!

Hmmm - have read Adblock blurb and it's a big like Big Brother. Not sure I want something so intrusive on my laptop.....

Although ads are driving me mad too.

Oh well - time for bed methinks. Nite all

I've just started another thread as a petition to get rid of it and feedback how many people it is annoying - please add a post to it if it is bugging you.

When you download Firefox it gives you the option to disable that search engine/toolbar, you only have to untick the box but if you have downloaded it and don't want it go into FF options > toolbars and remove it, very easy.
If it affected MS Outlook did you have it set as your default email as when I used Outlook it was fine for me?

As far as I was aware it did not give me obvious choices and TBH I trusted that I should let something load on a supposedly reputable application that is supposed to be the bee knees and everyone recommends. If your a basic user like me it's not easy to always make these decisions.

If you Google Babylon Toolbar you'll find loads of people have had problems with this being downloaded with Firefox and its difficult to get rid of. Outlook is my default email - I don't know whether I accidentally did something wrong in removing and reinstalling programmes but an I have no idea why Outlook seemed to have a setting that deleted all emails more than 14 days old and including those on my server. Hurrah!

OK, fair enough but sounds like you could do with some help from this forum; they've taught me almost everything about using a computer and what they don't know or can't help with wouldn't fill a postage stamp; they have different 'rooms' for each type of problem so very easy to go to the right place. http://forums.computeractive.co.uk/

The email thing sounds (to me) like Outlook has altered a setting somehow; I know if you used Thunderbird, that does have an option to delete mails after 14 days (which you alter to suit yourself) so I presume Outlook does too, it's a long time since I've used it.
