Most of you will know my big, fat, brown, hairy butterball of a pony Boo. The one who has spent 60% of her time with me lame, on box rest, etc etc. She is laminitic, arthritic and suffers from a severe weakness in her near fore that had her on 8 months worth of box rest and a brush with being pts.

So.. obviously.. she doesen't jump anymore, she does light schooling, and fun hacking, faster work only on very soft ground.

So.. today... what does she do?

She jumps out of her field.. over this fence...

Runs up a country lane (about 100m)

And jumps into Rocco and Trixie's field over...

THIS GATE.

Found her in their field and retraced her hoofprints to find her exact path.. including the take off and (heavy) landing of both leaps.

Don't get me wrong.. she's always had a bold jump in her for a 14.1hh fat moo...

... but she's been retired from jumping for 18 months now.

I got her back in her own field... stood out of sight behind some trees and witnessed her canter calmly round the field, set herself up and pop back over the fence and begin to trot calmly back up the lane.
Luckily she generally comes to call these days and when I stood, hands on hips, looking disapproving she stopped and ambled back to me.

Put her back in again, once more hid behind the trees and waited. By this time she must have been tired and simply setlled down to her hay.

From the way she was acting and prancing about, she was behaving very much like she does when in season. Which is abit strange, she doesen't normally start up again until March. I suppose her age could've had an effect? Or the weather conditions? But again the weather's been horrible cold and lately very wet and windy so I wouldn't have thought it.
Checked her an hour ago and she was still in. Going to have to be very vigilant. Luckily the lane that seperates the fields is private and only has YO and school taxi travel it so it's not busy at all. Silly pony.

I think she's spiting me though... I don't jump her (even though vet has said i can) because I don't want to risk damaging her.. I think she's showing me what I'm missing!

I do love her to pieces, but if this behaviour continues she'll be getting electric fencing inside all the fences of every field! Sorry Boo!

An amazed, slightly p*ssed off, and ever so slightly (and secretly) proud,
Kirsty

P.S - She had done herself no damage and was perfectly fine, thank goodness and will be moving back to her other field tomorrow as I don't want to risk her legs or the chance of her leaping out again. I thought she'd appreciate the change of scenery and slightly better grass... she has no thanks I tell you!

I must admit it made me smile too. I know I shouldn't have but I did laugh at/with her. I find it very difficult to stay angry at her when she prances about snorting and whickering. She's so bloomen vocal to that she's very difficult to lose!

Certainly seemed very pleased with herself when I first saw her galloping over the hill with Rocco and Trixie - expecting a dinner!

It provided a nice twist to a day off school due to powercuts and galeforce winds!

Haha. Tempting, but I could never forgive myself if it put her back at all. Not worth the risk.
*sniffles*
Lol!
