to lunge without gloves
frown.gif

I have the biggest blisters on my left hand now, 2 on my fingers and a massive one going across the palm of my hand. Never normally wear gloves to lunge Axey as he's normally so good but today I took him into the field to lunge him over some of the xc jumps, he was fine until I tried to get him over one of the ditches, a tiny little thing but he decided he was not having any of it and did everything he could think of to not go over it, he was rearing, trying to run off, galloping at me everything except go over this damn ditch.
He went over in the end but it took a good 20 mins of yelling at him, and we were both dripping in sweat by the end

Anyone know what to put on my poor hand?

Big plasters and leave them on as long as possible, it's always worked for me!
They should shrink, the skin will dry out and you will be able to take off the dry skin (original blister) just re-plaster until you are able to leave it open to air without any chance of dirt getting in. If by any chance they do burst then empty them out of gunk and bung the plasters on, that'll soothe them too!

That should help to take the sting out a bit but I wouldn't rub it in.
If they haven't burst, then you can soak them in warm water as hot as you can handle (your hands will be tender so it won't be too hot anyway!) which might soften and get them to burst. Believe me, they don't hurt half as much if they've burst I've found, they just annoy you! Bit obvious, but plasters won't stick if there's any cream on!

I feel for you, I've been there many times - just never do learn!

i did that once with one of the very old nylon ropes, and had a shiney burn for weeks. I recommend plunging your hand in cold water for as long as you can bear, then drying and applying plasters

These days I don't lunge without gloves and a hat
