General pointless post! In so much achy pain :-/ Cob is too wide, walking like John Wayne, been the centre of the office banter all day with my walking style, cant straighten my arms, bruises up the inside on my legs, even my wrists hurt?! - oh the pain!!! That'll teach me to not ride for a month although it wasn't my choice :-( why why why didn't I buy a less wide horse?!?!??!?

I feel your pain. My boy is fine, but my share horse is far too wide. If he wasn't such an amazing dude in every other way, I'd seriously consider not riding him. Lots of streching exercises before getting on help me.

I simply don't ride too wide horses now .
I school the younger ID but avoid hunting him as anything past one o'clock and I am sore tired and tatty by nightfall.
TB 's for hunting for me from now on .

Sure it's getting worse. Had to lean on the horses bringing them in. Dragged myself around Sainsbury's tonight bent double over the shopping trolley sporting hay in my hair and leaving a trail of mud behind me. Didn't buy anything above knee height on the shelves, crawled to my car (how did I not notice how low it is before?) and eventually collapsed on the sofa but now my stiletto's are staring at me with a taunting look knowing how much worse the second day after is ...... Glad other people know what this is like!!!

Feel your pain B & J, but when I retired my lovely old girl she felt like you were sitting on an armchair. I went on to a narrow built TB and felt like I was perched on a rail, nothing under me. It was horrible!

I have hip problems and have realised there caused by riding my wide cob :( since she'd been lame id not ridden for just over a month and had no hip pain or problems. Rode her twice and was in agony and hips started having problems again! Been told that I'll always have problems with my hips as long as I ride something wide like her. I have a TB x Warmblood but it feels like I'm sat on a post and rail fence riding her lol..

Hmmm I'm not sure if age is catching up but these days when I get off my xxxw haffy it takes me a good 25 meters of shuffle before my hips, knees and ankles start to work again. I've always had issues with cramping hips on him but this winter I'm creaking like a geriatric!

I had terrible hip issues with my super wide cob. Thought I was just having problems full stop. But then I retired her and bought a little welshie, and guess what, no more hip problems.

Too wide wont necessarily keep your hips supple, can just put too much pressure on. Mind you, if I hadn't had to retire her, I'd still be suffering as she was worth it!

I haven't ridden anything wide for years. The lower back and hip pain it would give me just isn't worth it.

I also feel your pain. I have to sit on (yes "on"... there is no "in" on that seat!!!) this to ride my little barrel. My 51 year old hips say "OUCH!!!" for the first five minutes of every ride, but then suddenly my coblet "shrinks" and doesn't feel so bad.... ;)
