That's the end of the orange one's eventing season :( DDFT injury.

MM, that's so sad :( My last horse had a career ending injury aged 8 so I can understand what you are going through. He is now a fat field ornament mostly although can cope with some light hacking. I just hope that isn't going to happen to Monty as well. Got his vet report through today and it just says about how unusual the site of his injury is which in my experience is never good news. My animals always get something odd and it never turns out well :(

Sorry Star you definitely do need to stop the whole Google scaring yourself thing, sounds like you have caught it really early, all credit to you. If Cruise can come back from his severed tendon to a predicted all round career (fingers crossed) then I reckon you and Monty will be out chasing the competition again before you know it. Chin up :)

i've stopped it now. cant find anymore doom and gloom stuff to read so will just have to get on with the next 3mths. it's hard not to be pessimistic when you've not got a good track record with legs. My first horse got PSD then annular ligament desmitis and my youngster retired aged 8 due to a cruciate ligament injury and stifle OCD. Me and horse legs just dont go. I mean, I learnt all about the various ways horses like to break themselves at vet school - I dont actually need to experience them all personally!

Star - Having a career ending injury at 8 really is pants. I'm "lucky" in that my horse is 14 now so at least he's had a good competition life. These tendon injuries are so annoying, especially when the horse isn't that lame as such. I really hope your horses injury improves, yes its unusual where he's damaged it but that doesn't make the prognosis that much worse hopefully. Sending healing vibes your horses way! x
