Rivington is good!

I get laughed at by our yard with how much Hi Viz I have on, they wont wear it. They will wear all the latest bling and sheepskin going!

It is about time insurance made it mandatory, then people will sit up and take notice.

There is no excuse not too, it is not expensive and what price do you put on your life let alone your horse.

I'm in no way disagreeing with those who advise you should wear Hi-Viz but as a word of warning I was driving along a country lane the other morning and also only saw a rider and horse at the very last moment in the shadow of a high hedge.

What surprised me greatly was that she was covered in Hi-Viz (Jacket, brushing boots and exercise sheet) and was STILL not visible in the low sun!!!

Just take as much care as you can and remember you can still be very difficult to see.

Good idea brighthair - I had forgotten about Rivington - I used to do long distance rides there, I will have to get my maps out! Thanks

I wear the following:-
Yellow hat
Bright pink coat
Yellow schooling whip

My horse wears;_

hi viz orange 1/4 sheet with tail flap
hi viz 2 tone leg bandz all 4 legs

and he is coloured with lots of white.

People always remark on how colourful we are

Better bright than sorry!

Totally agree.
Hi-viz might not be fashion but could save a life....
I even wear high-viz coat when getting in or turning out as we have to go 100yrds on a lane.
My daughters pony is black so very hard to see when its so dull. He has hi-viz boots, breast plate and even a little hi-viz hat thing.
Daughter wears her hi-viz to.

I never hack out without it even if I'm not going on the road (want to be found if I fall off!), always make sure both George and I have some hi-viz on in case we part company, usually have:
noseband cover
hat band
tabbard or hi-viz jacket when cold/wet
tail cover

looking to get a hi-viz schooling whip as I think that will be good.

Most members of our riding club are now converted (not all, but we are working on it

) The main reason is that a group were waiting for a second group, who were all in Hi-viz and they realised just how much more visable we were. I use flourescent arm bands with my flourescent tabatrd with flashing lights, if I use a quater sheet it is flourescent and the mare always wears four boots as a minimum, I also have a flourescent/reflective hat band.

Another high viz fan here.

It should be publicised that you can invalidate your insurance by not wearing high viz. But then again the idiots that don't wear it may also be the idiots without coverage...

I wear a flourescent hat band which lives on my hat and a builders tabard.

Horse wears a flourescent neck strap which connects to the girth.

I'm hankering after a good tail wrap as one third of accidents from behind. Unfortunately I'm on a budget for this. Would love leg wraps as well.

If anyone knows of any special offers PLEASE tell me as I am on a budget!

I alway wear hi-viz...its very cool! Look after a little girl who has a pink tabbard (reflective) very very cool. But my mums waterproof reflective trousers...not cool!
Don't understand why its not a standard things for roads like riding hats and gloves.
POI (point of interest) used to know a family who took tabbard hunting with them for hacking to and from the meet then put them in their pockets! genius idea!

I've had loads of positive comments about my hi-viz gear - even if I'm not going on the roads I ride in a tabard, hat band and hi viz brushing boots on all 4 of Asti's legs - an its all bright pink on a Ginger pony! Lovely effect!!!

But riding in the woods, a lot of people say how far off they could see me and how good it is.

I just revel in the hideousness of the colour scheme!!! We look gross!!!

But we certainly stand out!
