That is truly shocking and reminded me of a video the fire service showed at a BHS safety conference last month. They asked for a show of hands from everyone who kept their lorry in the same barn as their horses and their straw/hay supplies - and then showed us what happened at a yard in Hampshire recently. There were quite a few shocked faces in the audience. As the guy said, it's like keeping a bomb under your bed...

So glad no humans/horses were injured. Good luck with the clear-up.

You must be gutted, but thankfully no animal or human suffered. Hope you can get the Insurance sorted qucikly and replace/rebuild quickly.

Hussar what you say is so true and we should all take note.

Vehicles and or large quantities of hay should never be kept in the same building/or vicinty as livestock. Most fires in yards are caused by electrical faults be it in the electrical wiring, old electrical appliances such a fridges/freezers or within vehicles themselves.

Thanks.
Looks like we have only to do a bit of clearing and possibly to clear out tackroom etc. for cleaning left to do
Filled two skips today, one huge one, out of approx 150 bales of hay and all bed, there was around 4 bales hay intact and 4 bales shavings, and a few more 6 bales bust open but half intact.
We're eventing tomorrow, got a lift etc., entries already paid so no point in not going since we have everything we reckon. Off the bed now, I'm knackered!
It will probably be rebuilt as is, the concrete walls prevented the worst happening, and on site we have no other place to put storage for hay/lorry.

one word for it indeed, it's nearly worse at night as your not expecting the torch light to fall on all the burnt stuff.
40 rugs to be washed :S
