I know there have been a lot of threads on which boots to buy etc, but most of them are really out of date and I am looking for more up-to-date information.

I have a 16" calf, which does not really seem out of the ordinary for people who ride; however when I tried on a pair of Shires Norfolk boots, they would not do up. I have been looking around for a pair of boots which will fit over my "huge" calves, any suggestions will be considered. Please can you state what calf sizes you are though, as then i can get a general consensus as to whether they will fit!!

The only pair which I have been told may fit are the Ariat Grasmeres. Any info on these boots is appreciated, as they are so expensive if they don't fit!! Oh and I have already seen the Fuller Fillies ones and they do nothing to float my boat!!

Thanks, X

Yes deffo the Ariat Grasmeres. I got the ones for fuller calves, though you would get into the standard ones with 16" calves, only I think the fuller ones would look better, as the lacing wouldn't be so stretched.

The foot size is generous; I have 6.5 in my Grasmeres where I usually take size 7. The ankle is snug so use the long show horn. They are perfect for us ladies with sturdy legs!

I have toggi canyons and ariat grassmeres both are roomy enough in the calf in a standard fitting. I will check but I think I measured my calves as a 16 inch and I don't think they are fat just muscular from riding and walking. I'm a size 12 in jeans!

I got the Ariat Trent Boots, they have this wrap system that stretches and fits to lots of calf sizes and they are a bit cheaper than some Ariats - I paid £129 on ebay.

The other one that is generous is the Toggi Calagary in wide, I am about a 15" and they are loose on me but these are not as good quality and hard wearing as Ariats
