The agility thread

How on earth does anyone remember a course like that!! Difficult to see how one could do distance handling either so only for people who can run fast. I can't believe its good for dogs long term having to do so many changes of direction and round the backs. Makes a nonsense of increasing the distances between jumps. Very happy to be a G2 handler these days and no ambition to go any higher, not that I have ever been more than a G5 handler. Full of admiration for those who can handle those courses.

We've got our first 3-5 class this weekend and I reckon that will be quite challenging enough. Also his first show with the new matrix so that will be interesting.
I've got a workshop with Liz Naylor and Jo Tristam at the end of the month, hope they don't decide to use any of the WAC courses

Team Japan have a corgi 😁

A good few years back we had a member at our club who ran the most delightful little corgi. She did really well with her. There also used to be someone I saw at a few shows who had two.

I'm in love, completely in love

I've seen what I think is a Cardigan corgi (he's quite a chunk) at local independent and A4A shows, he jumps 200 or 250 but she does do KC with him as well . He's not the speediest but seems to love it.

I have been at a two day agility camp, where I expect the trainers were wishing they were in Sweden instead! Great couple of days though - Sam Lane and Chloe Brown.

Sam is just fantastic, if you enjoyed it get her nailed down on any more dates as I know she said she’ll be doing a lot less teaching next year, as she’s bringing on her young dogs.

It’s the second time I’ve trained with her - I’d love to be on her (or Chloe’s) doorstep tbh! They are both very kind and positive, I always come away happy.

Meant to say she was training in Cornwall near St Austell, so I long way from home!

We've managed to get her up here once a month for which I am pathetically grateful. She often manages to give me a talk which is essentially 'shit or get off the pot' but phrased much more motivationally!

Just doing some pupil stalking on Plaza and think we will have cause to congratulate MM. 😁
Thanks bc. Yes had a good day , the weather was absolutely awful , Z wasn’t too impressed. His first show in Grade 3 and first KC show since June . He won the G1-3 jumping and came 2nd in Longfield qualifier , c3-5 ! I haven’t checked if judges were using new matrix, presume they were but he was 10 seconds plus inside time .

What a good lad. Using new matrix the jumping should have been 46 secs but you were given 43, the agility qualifier should have been 50 but given 49.

I do hope the weather improves for you tomorrow, it's been miserable here. We had hydrotherapy today so I ended up as wet as the dog without going for a walk!

The purple people were sending me videos of how much space there is at the venue so might be one for us next year.

Weather was lovely today back at High Peak and my little guy won both Grade 3 jumping and agility , he’s a star .
I’m very disappointed to see just now on Agilitynet that micro height isn’t going to happen anytime soon , so looks like we will still be concentrating on independent and A4A shows next year .

I've loved watching clips of the world championship this weekend. I haven't competed in agility since I was a teenager (started at 12). I used to watch a couple of dogs do a course and then run it 😱 I couldn't believe the adults bothered to walk it 🤣
Oh how things change...I wouldn't remember it now if I walked it, watched it and tried it a few times! Oh to be 12 again!
