The agility thread

Is it truly awful? I think I've persuaded a friend to come and make a weekend of it. Worst case we go back to the Airbnb and drink!
Long time since I’ve been there , for May show GSD rings were outside but yes I recall the halls were a bit grim . My lasting memory of SKC is that it was the show where parvo first appeared in the Uk . We had 2 dogs who became ill and a litter of pups who were very sick but amazingly survived .

Fabulous news, well done! That last win is such a special milestone 😄 Enjoy the feeling and enjoy your first champ.

I've made a right mess of my diary this year and managed to agree to farm-sitting for family the weekend of a champ show I would normally attend, that will leave us until June without a champ run. Seriously contemplating a road trip to SKC to do the double instead - there's a show judge that really likes my dog who is giving tickets for the first time, with champ agility the day after. It's only 6 hours. 🫠
6 hours each way or 6 hours round trip? If the former then you get a Travelodge night as a bonus, if round that’s easy. 😁

KC show, only two rings, unfortunately agility first… dog had forgotten he had ever been trained in anything resembling agility, and was E’d by the second obstacle because he jumped off it to visit the judge and then returned to it. Pulled off numerous jumps, didn’t get AF contact by a million miles, and pulled out of weaves I think six times. Also didn’t drive forward.

Last night we were at a weaves workshop - if I’m being kind he may have been tired.

I am considering doing less with him (maybe just helter skelter, I think there’s one competition a year down here that holds that), but we haven’t had weekly training now since last summer (and that wasn’t training, more a weekly here’s a course, do what you like situation) however I have now got a weekly place with a trainer we both like. I will keep training him in our slot until Fig can start slotting in behind. R loves being in the ring, but be doesn’t have the drive or discipline of other breeds/types, and it’s getting very wearing.

Although looking at the G6 and 7 agility at that show today only one dog out of 21 wasn’t E’d, so at least I wasn’t alone.

I reckon there must have been a dodgy moon last night 🌙. Up at 5.40 to be at our clubs KC show. We were in the first class the agility at 8.30. First up Daz who has been amazing in training lately yet today you'd think it was her first time in the ring 🙈 she ran to the entrance at keast 3 times, went past jumps, had a dodgy seesaw and just wasn't "there" at all. Honestly so disappointed. Never mind the lights being on and no one in, she wasn't even on the bus 😂. Never known her like that 😢 It was a graded 3,4,5 so Pebs went next and achieved a better class of E. 🙄

A long wait during which time I was on lead duty 18000 steps later we did the jumping. Tbh we'd all had enough. Pebs trotted round for a very slow clear with time pens and Daz was a bit better but not great. Have booked them both in for physio so we will see. On the plus side it was dry, sunny and quite mild.

Oh I feel your pain!

Ziggy measured 270 mm at his A4A measure so hope he hasn’t grown .
Sensible that they’ve given up the remeasure all smalls idea , that was crazy . A bit miffed we have to have 2 measures at micro , tho he’ll probably be retired by the time the 2nd ones due 😛

So we trotted off to a G 3 to 5 show today. Been to the venue once before and it is still a shithole. Typical old equestrian venue dodgy loos and little exercise area for dogs. However, the inside arean was firm sand and my girls loved it ! Daz went rogue we were eliminated at number 1 and I sort of gave up after that although contacts and weaves were brilliant. She kept running up to the gallery and barking 🙄 Then little old Pebs went round loving it and only won🏆 I was so pleased, however we were inside the time by only .7. Next 2 agility classes Pebs wasn't as good but Daz was brilliant until I said left.. and she went left and sailed past the jump 🙈 In the last jumping classes Daz had a good E and Pebs another clear for a placed 2nd. That wil be the last of our indoor shows as will miss last 2 as off on holiday. They are having physio next week a couple of weeks off and our first outdoor show is Norfolk Easter.

Had this one up tonight and ran it with small, only real trouble was with the weave exit to 18-19, 9 and 3 proved very tempting if you wanted to layer it. On my clean run I came through and blinded on to 19 which worked better for him.

I also got a blind between 4 and 5 but nearly died with the effort. 😂

That looks like a lot of effort and fair play on that blind 4-5 because no way would I get there!
