The agility thread

We were at A4A Bounce and Squeak yesterday at Kelsall Hill EC. It's a lovely venue apart from the fact the rings are huge ! I'd fallen over a branch on Saturday when mantrailing with Zenya so was very sore and powered by ibuprofen. Lovely clears in jumping and steeplechase for 2nd and 3rd respectively where he did some good distance stuff but broke his start line wait in the steeplechase, a friend videoed it and he looked like he was playing grandmothers footsteps ! So I decided to really reinforce the wait in agility, which was great, but dog walk was second obstacle and he was in such a rush to catch up he flew the down contact, and then for good measure did the same on the A frame. Jump 9 was right near the exit and I thought he might go and look for his lead and reward (has happened more than once) but he didn't so I'll take that as a positive. My body is telling me today that running round yesterday wasn't a good idea but heyho :)
Re my fall, my wonderful faithful GSD totally ignored her owner spread eagled on the ground and just carried on another 20 yards or so to find the "mispa" and sat with him having her reward while I hobbled up :p

Tentatively coming back to this thread now. Was a bit meh, as was I’ll for quite a while and had to give up anything resembling fun.

Pretty much a year out of action/training for us. Started light training 4 months ago. Loki had not forgotten a thing. Interestingly came back to it a little more mature and focused. Getting resemblance of a wait on the start line. Starting to get a solid weave entry. Driving and confident on the seesaw. Who knows, might actually be ready for a grown up agility class later this season?!

In the interim, entered up for A4A casuals.
Did his first one recently. He got 2 clears (but the handler only got one clear 😆)

Thank you for showing the pictures of your beautiful Manchester, and clever to remember the training.

Back to club #1 last night, between Crufts and the venue hosting a horse event there’s been no training there for two weeks. Large dog didn’t actually get to do anything on account of repeatedly blowing her stay, which bodes well for the unaff club show tomorrow. 😏

Fig had her first go at an agility class last night - there was a spare space so she joined Rew and Mr StR came along as dog wrangler. She had lots of fun and was mentally exhausted at the end, having run through a 5m tunnel on a curve (only done a straight 3m before), a line of puppy bumps, and a hand follow whilst I pivoted, all held by instructor who she’s met a few times and likes. Lovely gentle session with treats and toys to build happiness.

Four perfect stays. 🥴

One pole down in the jumping for 3rd place, with the fastest time. Four poles down in the agility, again with the fastest time. All three contacts though including a correctly strided A frame so I'll take it.

Small dog was 4th senior jumping and then scared the absolute crap out of me yeeting himself off the dog walk at full speed, I didn't see it happen but I'm told he landed in a heap. He seems absolutely fine now. 🫠

And my last run - yes an elimination - was at 6.15pm. The other ring still had about forty dogs over two classes to go at that point!

Not a day of glory - Rew was seriously off the boil by his last run.

Sounds a bit of a nightmare . You’ve got more patience than me , I’d have given up and give home !
