Inspired by the huge success of the AAD meet up earlier this year, and the fact that Spudlet isnt coming to Burghley :(, I thought I would strike whilst the iron is hot and start promoting the AAD Winter BBQ :D

Date and location yet to be confirmed..... ummmm.... anyone have a large barn we could use? cos I have a horrible idea it might be pouring with rain :D

We could, of course, all cram into my mobile home but I think we might all expire from the smell of wet dog in a confined space :o
 
When you say winter...... before or after Xmas? Just thinking about daylight issues and poss stay overs. I've got use of a barn (not on my property) but no leccy or toilets nearby :(
 
Oooo no idea really Mollichop - probably beginning of December, so before Christmas? I was thinking of a lunchtime thing to compensate for the short winter days, but realise that it will restrict the number of people who can attend?

You may wish to do some subtle enquiries with MurphysMinder about the problems associated with hosting an AAD meet up mind you :p

North Oxfordshire sounds dead central TBH, what does everyone else think? :)

I was born there, Oxfordshire IS the centre of England :p:D:D

I suppose central England is really Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire area???? (my geography is rubbish!) - does anyone wish to volunteer to host from that area? :D

Just looked on a map - Derbyshire and Northamptonshire too apparently :D

littlemisslauren - I actually come from the Peak District so THAT is the real centre IMO. I'm just masquerading as a southerner ;)

MurphysMinder was an awesome hostess, she can tell you the real story :p

But the essence is around 10 random people with around 16 random dogs of assorted breeds turning up on your doorstep, then having a fantastic time hurling around a field whilst we ate BBQ food :D

MM also kindly allowed some of us to stay over as it was an evening BBQ last time, but not sure if people would want to do that this time if we are going for a lunchtime one? :)

Sounds doable here then :)
Barn - check,
huge bbq - check,
well fenced fields - check
and we do b & b so plenty of room for northern peeps to stay

On the other hand if someone more central is up for hosting then happy days!
 
Don't do it Brownmare, my cats are still traumatised!
Seriously, I thoroughly enjoyed hosting it, had a bit of a panic on the morning when I realised I had a load of strangers and their dogs descending but I had a great time and think the others did too.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the winter one, I work in a shop and Saturdays in December are absolutely crazy, no way could I get the day off :(.
Hopefully we can have a repeat performance here next summer.
 
If we do the Leicestershire (or thereabouts) option, you'll be able to get a cheapo flight to East Mids from Edinburgh. I have done before!:D

Have googled Rutland :D - brilliant :):):):):):) Could you ask your YO do you think? Also is there anywhere we could let the dogs out? And anywhere people could stay/camp??

Could easily make it a Sunday if you like MM? :) It wouldnt be the same without your lovely lovely GSDs :)
