Omg ouch! Hope you've got a cold steak slapped on that !

We need pics tomorrow when the bruising starts coming out!

Flipping heck :/ my mum had surgery as a result of slipping on the ice on the ramp to my muck heap..

It's dangerous having a pulse :/ wishing you a very speedy recovery

I was carrying a barrel of micronised linseed across the yard, slipped and bounced my head off it.

Bloody barefoot diet!!!

No teeth lost, thank goodness.

I have a bottle of red and a straw. I'll be cool

Oh Oberon! I do hope that's not as nasty as it looks, sunshine.

I think you need a nice hot toddy to get over that one.

yeouch!!!!!

Girl, you is learnt a lesson... were you wearing shoes??? LOL!!!

Get well soon!!! xxx

Now Oberon if your horse had shoes it would not have needed the micronised linseed !!
OHhh that looks seriously sore good luck with the wine and the straw.

Soooo - to update...

I fractured a front tooth and had a root canal today to try and salvage it

Yuk...tried that once many moons ago after putting teeth through lip in a roller skating 'collision'...twice...:o

Hope it works for you... I ended up having them removed and two falsies instead - they look better these days than the natural ones next to them... :D

What kind of falsie did you get?

Dentist has mentioned a denture or a bridge or a £1500 implant :(

He's not 100% the tooth can be saved and because it's a front tooth...I'm worried....

I feel your pain - I've just got out of a+e having tripped over a stray brushing-boots and smacked my face into the lorry - broken nose, two black eyes and chipped front tooth! Must remember to look where I'm going!

Hope you're feeling better and get tooth fixed soon!

£1500?!?! Good lord...

Mine's the front and the one next to it going 'outwards'... Not an attractive look when they're missing I'll admit... I've got a bridge but a rather messy way of doing it... The two falsies are in one piece and have a sort of metal wing at each end - those wings were cemented/glued/welded?!? onto the back of the teeth next door... The eventual reduction of the gum has left a teensy gap between the top of the falsies and the gum line but it's not really obvious... My dentist at the time was not the most efficient it has to be said... I did have a removable denture for six weeks while the gum shrank - nightmare and I'd never have one of those as a final option even if I had to sell mine (or the Mr's :D) body to pay for it... The thing constantly flicked out every time I bit something and randomly during mid conversation - even when glued into place with copious amounts of denture fixative... A friend has four front bottom teeth as a denture though and copes fine with them...

When Mr Dragon had to have a bundle out (transplant drugs caused gum overgrowth) he was offered the option of fitting screws into the bone and attaching teeth to those - his hospital dentist considered that the most 'natural' permanent look afterwards... I don't know if that's what your dentist means by implant? No idea on costs though as his treatment was through the dental hospital... It would have meant a second general anaesthetic though for implanting the screws (don't know if that's a necessity for the procedure or because he has big infection issues and stuff) but he was a wuss, declined and now sports a lot of gum... Easier for a guy though maybe...

I'm still reeling at the £1500...

Dentist did say there are people who can do an implant cheaper....but he wouldn't refer to them...only to those he trusts and their price is £1500.

If it comes to it....I'm considering going the whole hog ;)

EEEEEK!

Oberon, just a thought, does your horse insurance not cover dental repair? I had a crown knocked out (breaking the tooth in the process) by a 4yo and I was covered under my horse insurance who paid for me to have a bridge.

That is an option. I'm hoping the tooth will be OK with the root canal I had yesterday. We'll see in six months if it's viable.

I didn't even damage it doing anything cool:(

Ha ha...nothing much 'cool' about kissing the kerb on roller skates either... Particularly when you get to hear the dripping sarcasm in "But mother, we did tell you they weren't like the ones you had in your day"...

Mine was ok for a little while then darkened... I didn't really notice to be honest until I saw a photograph and nearly choked because it looked really dark grey...

Fingers crossed the root canal does the job... It must work for the majority I guess or it wouldn't be worth trying... :)
