Does anyone know why they are closed, went today gates shut with sign saying until further notice, what's going on and are they going to be open again?
 
I hope someone takes it on and makes it a really good tack shop like it used to be when it was in the smaller premises......they got greedy imo, making feed more expensive than anywhere else in the area, meaning I would avoid there even though its the closest feed shop to me....

Also, their stock became very limited....2 brands of rugs, pikeur clothing and loads of other dressage stuff.....but not a huge amount of stuff that would appeal to the 'common' horse owner....which was a shame....

Totally agree Maisy, I stopped shopping there too. Expensive feed and everything with too much bling.
 
Shame a nice big shop and got good helpful staff too(everyone commented on this). But high prices. I remember going in to buy plastic fence posts and I could get them 45p each, cheaper down the road!And never went back after seeing the high prices. That was their downfall. Things were not a penny more but a lot more.
But I hope the new owners open a nice coffee shop(its a great spot to stop off if in Cambs / Herts) & then I will come into buy normal priced items. Good luck to them as its a very accessible placed shop and easy to get to.
 
Have texted and let them know. It will be opening soon with new owners and they are aware that they need to stock reasonably priced every day stuff and not just expensive stuff! It's going to have a lot more choice than it used to :)
 
Yeah I did think it was too expensive and not aimed at me at all! I went there and thought of husband-funded horse owners instantly, not the common folk after average brands and heaven forbid a few bargains. I kbow times are hard but I think it was large enough to stock a decent range of stuff. The country store in biggleswade is good as is biggleswade saddlery. Literally about a quarter of the space and full of actual useful stuff I would buy!

If it could be done, it would also be good to be able to actually *see* the range of feed available, not just buy it at the till to have it taken to the car for you....I like to read the bags and can always be encouraged to buy new stuff if I can see the bag (these companies spend millions on designing the packages for a reason!!)
