My older boy would give me a swift kick up the arse if I touched his boy bits
I would have said the same about my 20-year-old until a month or so ago - if I so much as looked at it with intent he'd retract it swiftly, swish his tail, raise a hind leg in a warning manner and look round at me with his 'I have teeth, you know' face on.
Since he wasn't being bothered by it, I was leaving well alone and just helping the occasional crusty bit fall off, which worked beautifully for two years until I noticed that it was slightly pinker than normal under a crusty area and decided he probably needed some help. Patience and clicker training have worked wonders and now he'll let me apply a little warm baby oil when necessary with no more than a slightly ticklish tail swish. That said, I haven't attempted to check for a bean yet, that's this summer's goal!!
OP, that is one hell of a bean!
